[#]Costumes for a #Bollywood dance troupe. The gold and red stretch fabric worked well for the tops, embellished with metallic ribbon. The yellow satin over skirts were multi-purpose and all the separates could be swapped between members as needed. Same with the dupattas.

The coin scarves were purchased.

[#]BTS during our 2018 #photoshoot as @WTL catches amazing shots of the dress. Originally I made it while working with another local designer, with whom I was her main Sewist for over 15 years while also building my own business. When she closed her shop, she asked if I wanted to take the dress- I did!

It was used as a costume for a princess in an instructional dance DVD ( that’s another story! ).

Then a few years ago I redesigned it, removing formerly sweetheart neckline and pleated sleeve head to this off the shoulder line.

[#]flashback to a custom made lace dress that took advantage of the lace pattern and worked with it to create elegant symmetry.

Using a dark blush satin lining hightlighted the shapes of the lace.

Illusion mesh at the shoulders and neckline made the dress comfortable and secure for the dancing!

This outfit gave such#regal #pyjamas… all #silk: gold #duopioni, red Thai and red and gold Chinese satin. The wrap dress also has #pockets, as do the loose cut trousers. #TAVCreationsOriginal

[#]flashbackFriday to when a lovely group of friends joined me at the Chateau Laurier for the #DowntownAbby #HighTea wearing #TAVCreationsOriginals.

Two are #upcycles - the blue jacket was formerly a strapless bridesmaid dress!

The green beaded silk dress was revamped from a #vintage piece.

The burgundy silk jacket with gold collar is actually completely reversible

The white silk jacket with purple velvet skirt were my wedding outfit from 1998, with both top and skirt made from remnants.

This dress has some history. I’ll tell the full story slowly here. For now, it’s two most recent appearances- National Women’s show #ottawa in 2021 ( #stillMasking), and the last Halloween party we attended in 2019 as a ghost bride.

Introduction:

I’m an Ottawa based sewist and designer, specializing in custom bridal and evening wear but really enjoy the process of bringing someone’s ideas to life in fabric.

I also tailor, upcycle and redesign existing garments, of all sorts and enjoy a good cosplay!

I’ll post pics and videos of my work when it won’t ruin the surprise for my clients, as well as the occasional sharing of techniques.
