Fight for two males Black grouse in the Taïga

The black grouse (Lyrurus tetrix), also known as northern black grouse, Eurasian black grouse, blackgame or blackcock, is a large game bird in the grouse family. It is a sedentary species, spanning across the Palearctic in moorland and steppe habitat when breeding, often near wooded areas. They will spend the winter perched in dense forests, feeding almost exclusively on the needles of conifers.

I had a really hard time making this image during a super moon. For those who know Marseille, this is one of the angels that adorn the basilica of Notre Dame de la Garde. There are very few angles to achieve perfect alignment of this angel with the super moon and I only had a few seconds to take this image with a very large telephoto lens. Voilà !

Up, close and personal vol 7.

I took this image of a female Tiger shark last year, in october at 80 miles to Bimini. This image went with my film "Face To Face: Overcoming Fear With Sharks" I love sharks, all the sharks.

How I did this image ? Canon R5 Sigma 20 mm Art f1,4 1/100e F3,5 Iso 1600 Easydive Underwater Housing 2 Big Blue lights 10 000 x 2 Lumens

Sharks are the super-predators of the oceans and the terror of the Western world. They are often perceived as bloodthirsty killers. This fear is heightened every time a shark attack hits the headlines. In response, beaches around the world are closed, nets are set up and sharks are systematically slaughtered. Living with sharks seems incompatible with our new lifestyles.

Yet one country has made a radically different choice: the Bahamas. This paradise archipelago, which welcomes nearly 7 million visitors every year, has declared́ its waters "shark sanctuaries". How do locals and tourists manage to live with these large predators? Would it be possible to get close to those considered to be man-eaters?

To answer this question, photographer Rodolphe Guignard takes us to the heart of shark territory. Accompanied by experts and scientists, he dives right up close to the sharks to capture some surprising interactions. An intense face-to-face encounter that reveals the true face of sharks, the opposite of their sad reputation

There is a place that I like very much for trek and photo: Plitvice Lakes NP.

The Plitvice Lakes is the oldest and the largest national park in the Republic of Croatia. The exceptional natural beauty of this area has always attracted nature lovers. As a result of that, it was declared the first national park of the Republic of Croatia as early as 8 April 1949. The process of tufa formation, through which tufa barriers and subsequently lakes are formed, is the outstanding universal value for which Plitvice Lakes received international recognition on 26 October 1979, when it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Underwater portrait of a crocodile ;-)

This may seem strange but I love crocodiles. They are fascinating animals, unloved and not valued at their true value. They are engineer animals that allow the existence of hundreds of other species in the mangroves, in Mexico. For the Mayans, the crocodile is the one who sacrificed himself to save the world by carrying it on his back! I made this image for my previous film broadcast in December on television. It's called "Face to Face: overcoming fear with the crocodiles".

You must have understood, I am a crazy lover of nature and animals. I love everything in nature and I love to photograph everything! I waited quite a few years to capture this image. Never in the right place, nor at the right time and above all, for me, I never had the right distance and the right light. So, I am quite happy to have been able to meet this beautiful male this fall, not far from my home :-)

It'a a place that I love because it's a spectacular river with incredible colors in winter time. The Sucio River (Rio Sucio) that crosses the Braulio Carrillo National Park takes its name from the color that its waters take due to the large amount of materials and sediments that it carries, coming from the central volcanic mountain range.

I took this picture of a manatee ten years ago (geeeeez) at Crystal River. It was for a film about Wildlife and Humans interactions. Three Sisters Spring was still open and the US Wildlife and Fish Service had issued me a permit authorizing me to go down to the bottom in apnea. I guess it's forbidden now and I think Three Sisters is close now to protect the manatees ( who are in danger and adorable by the way).

Do you know the legend of the Kindelesbrunnen? The one that tells why storks deposit babies?

This fable was born in Alsace, around 1850. Women who wanted to have a child had to make a wish above a Kinderbrunnen, in other words a "children's well", maintained by a gnome with a white beard. Under the Strasbourg Cathedral there was an underground lake where the souls of children waiting to be born played. Once the wish was made, the gnome took his boat to go and fish out a soul and deposit it on the edge of the well.

This is where our stork arrived and with its powerful beak, it deposited the baby in a basket before carrying it to its cradle.

If the fable was born in Alsace, it is because for a long time, it was the only region where storks were found. In large numbers. Almost every rural village had its nest, which was not the case in the rest of France, where the species was absent or extremely rare.

In Croatia, we are lucky: there are many storks. The White one of course but also the Black one, very threatened and endangered in France.
