Update:

Successful upgrade of dBase! PostgreSQL running smoothly mastodon.social now runs on the spanking new database servers!

Small processing delays occur due to backlog of requests accumulated during downtime.

Patience is a virtue...

mastodon.social has incurred problems & is experiencing major outage.

PostgreSQL new major version running on new server hardware went awry.

There is a config issue with the upgrade.

Please just be patient and dont ask when the instance will be up again. Let the computer & server technicians work in calm so they can fix or roll back; either will result in the instance coming up again

Now I have YAT (yet another toy) to play with on all platforms I dwell upon. Love KDE Connect features.

In fact I played with it for a few hours yesterday.

@RadioAzureus

KDEConnect is a powerful piece of connection software. Even when you only bounce off the Android client with your Androids (plural) you will enjoy the program. I can see that a of lot coding time (not difficult for a seasoned programmer) and debugging effort (can be tedious if you have no alpha / beta testers) has been put into the code.

KDE Connect celebrated 10 years in 2023, now its 12, so quite mature for software. Esp opensource.

Problems connecting Linux (or any other) often mean that your distro maintainer did something unexpected (IMHO stupid) by enabling an fw pointing to your LAN (sick!) with all incoming ports blocked.

The moment fw errors have been terminated (T2) your desktop client will work without a hitch, doing handshaking and later functions, which you enable one by one.

Android client has accross the board an unfightable problem which is powermgmt regardless of flags put for 24/7 background operation. Esp cheap Xiaomis have that. The ones of EUR 175 (USD same) to EUR 1200, have less of that esp the near and full flagships.

It's unfightable untill you remove Android OS and replace with a flash on your phone.

Im having fun with Android client

Amazing how we keep learning interesting tidbits. The writers of the XFce docs have made wonderfull documentation that are always online.

I've never read them, because of my autodicatical skills. Until today, when I accidentally pressed F1 and my browser popped up, showing me the help page of the xfce terminal, of which I have read the manpages.

So this key is programmed in the terminal, not in the DM. Lovely to know this exists

Google keeps on pushing AI on us thinking that we are not watching. With the latest Google device update a client for the Gemini LLM was installed without permission. Even when you repetitively remove The chat in your bloody SMS program {Google messages} that program keeps on inserting itself Ad Infinitum on your Android device

[#] Sweet review of Behringer FX2000

[#]# Virtualizer & Effects Processor

since I've been a Sound Engineer for more than 40 years

with 1/4" balanced cables on two of the Aux busses

a full compressor with all parameters accessible, and other goodies

you'll just have to buy the effect for...

I have to check the manual to see if you can make your own chain sequence of two effects

Conclusion of first impression

and I love the effect grouping chosen within the standard effect chain

to test out all effects and play with the variables

the colours of the display and dash are well chosen and are perfectly readable in a darkened venue

Report on instrument effects usage will follow

And if you actually dig into the mathematics you see that one gigabit is not even enough for that!

So I should have said 10 GBit symmetrical

4K TV about 28MBit/s * 4 = 112MBit per person 2GBit * 4 = 8GBit

So 10GBit is sufficient

Why do I consider 1 GBit symmetrical a normal speed? You have to be able to drive at least four or four K TVs in your home and still have four people internetting simultaneously without disrupting each other

The second conclusion you will draw is that you will not be able to believe that it's this internet provider, who has these lame rules about their internet gateways, which are obsolete and don't even want to give you a stable internet connection with a normal speed.

What is a normal speed? One GBit up and down symmetrical, that is a normal speed

The first conclusion that you will draw is that internet in my country is extremely expensive, look how much, actually look how little data you get and who look how much you have to pay in US dollars

The average amount of money that someone who has the age of pension gets is 1750 SRD {49.84 USD / 48.02 EUR}

These are the exchange rates SRD to USD and EUR to USD

So all the prices in SRD you just have to divide them by the currency that you have

This is what my internet provider charges for prepaid Internet LTE. The prepaid 5G charges are enormous

You can run it through any translation system you want and I'll put down the exchange rate for SRD to EUR and SRD to USD
