I think this is going to be the place that I share funny stories from life with my kids. Tonight, for example:
I was ON THE TOILET and someone knocked on our front door. My kids yelled "mom someone's at the door," and then they just... opened the door. Outside was a person who was going door to door asking for donations to UNICEF. I quickly washed my hands and went to the door and let the poor young person (that's a crappy job to do) give me their whole memorized speech about it before sending them away again.
Meanwhile, in the kitchen, the soon-to-be 7 year old ate his own grilled cheese and then the one I'd put aside for my husband as well. When I came back in I said "you ate Dada's sandwich! I'll have to make him another one now." And do you know what that child said to me? He grinned and said, "I'm a scavenger."

My kids love Totoro. The cutest thing I've ever seen them do was this New Year's Eve: they were watching My Neighbour Totoro and acting out everything along with the movie because they love it so much. Especially the night gardening scene. Sometimes I feel like I'm doing everything wrong as a parent but then my kids love Totoro that much so I can't be doing EVERYTHING wrong.
