Maybe I am just a glutton for punishment, but I dusted off the #MangoPi quad to learn a new(to me) DE.

To fill my tinkering needs, I am going to learn #JWM. I like the idea of a simple desktop/window manager; let’s see if I like it in practice.

I asked #DeepSeek why some sumo fans do not like henkas. Here is the response:

Henka is a technique in sumo wrestling where one wrestler sidesteps at the initial charge (tachi-ai) to avoid direct contact, causing the opponent to lose balance and often step out of the ring or fall. While it is a legal and strategic move within the rules of sumo, some fans dislike henkas for several reasons:

  1. Perceived Lack of Effort: Sumo is deeply rooted in tradition and values physical strength, technique, and direct confrontation. A henka can be seen as avoiding a fair contest of strength, which some fans view as disrespectful to the spirit of sumo.

  1. Anti-Climactic Matches: Fans often look forward to intense, head-to-head clashes between wrestlers. A henka can end a match in seconds, leaving spectators feeling disappointed or cheated out of an exciting bout.

  1. Cultural Expectations: Sumo is not just a sport but also a cultural practice with strong ties to Shinto rituals and Japanese values. The emphasis on honor, respect, and fair play makes some fans view henkas as a dishonorable tactic.

  1. Impact on Rankings: A henka can sometimes lead to an upset victory, especially if a lower-ranked wrestler uses it against a higher-ranked opponent. This can frustrate fans who feel the better wrestler didn't get a fair chance to prove their skill.

  1. Repetition and Overuse: Some wrestlers gain a reputation for relying too heavily on henkas, which can make their matches predictable and less entertaining for fans who prefer variety and skill display.

That said, opinions on henkas vary widely. Some fans appreciate the tactical aspect and see it as a legitimate part of sumo strategy. It remains a controversial but legal maneuver in the sport.

[#]DeepSeek seems pretty neat. Here is its response to the question: “Who is considered the best #sumo and why?”

Determining the "best" sumo wrestler can be subjective and depends on the criteria used, such as championships won, overall skill, or cultural impact. However, one name that frequently comes up in discussions of the greatest sumo wrestlers is Taiho Koki.

[#]## Hakuho Sho (1985–)

[#]## Why They Are Considered the Best

Ultimately, whether Taiho or Hakuho is considered the "best" often depends on personal preference and the era of sumo one values most. Both are undeniably among the greatest to ever compete in the sport.

For those following my allergic reaction saga, I am doing much better.

I got pumped full of roids and Benadryl at urgent care. I was able to sleep most of it off.

Rash and hives are all gone. Just some minor splotchiness on the chest and localized pain where the scorpion got me.

Some techie updates:

The #Good:

Switched the 2015 #MacBook over to vanilla #Fedora from #Silverblue. I kept running into issues with programs freezing and a few just not working. Troubleshooting was just too much of a hassle on Silverblue so I made the very easy switch.

The #Bad:

After lots of tinkering with the #MangoPiQuad, I think it is pretty much dead to me. It has done the heinous act of no longer being fun. So it is off to a drawer to collect dust (which is a fate less worse than the e-recycling bin like a few other #SBC met)

The #Ugly:

My place of employment has forced me over to #Windows11 🤢🤮🪦

1/19/25 Update: Since I really do not have main purpose anymore for the Mango Pi Quad, I switched the Debian repos over to Sid. Let’s see if this add a little longevity (fun) to it.
