My setup is: NFC on inside, sticker on outside.

Sticker has a QR code which leads to some contact info with the instruction to scan the nfc tag for more.

Sticker also has my e-mail and signal username, aswell as the URL in the QR-Code written out

This way, you can link to more contact info than fits on a sticker, keep the more sensitive details (phone number, etc.) private unless someone physically has your device (not just looking at it from afar), and also update outdated info.

This is significantly more unreliable than analog methods, so including an e-mail address and signal handle on a sticker is highly reccomended.

If you got a lot of those 48byte NFC-Tags at #38c3, i have a pretty neat usecase for you:

• stick them on the inside of valueable devices using double-sided tape

• mark the spot on the outside using something permanent (laser, engraving, sharpie). Add some long-term contact details (maybe on a sticker)`.

• program in a URL to your website. add a long random string after a #

• show contact-information on that page, with the more sensitive stuff getting unlocked by the password after the #

why:

• faster pattern recognition than numerical representation

• fits visor, unlike dollcode

• looks cool

• more accessible then color-coding

• way more combinations possible than color-coding

5AM Idea, after looking at new visor PFPs of entities in feed:

obsevation:

• many entities seem to possess visors of 440729's (@sophie) design.

• many entities have a "dollcode" of @41666's design on their profile/website to represent their serial number / UUID

• there is significant overlap

idea:

programatically convert a SN/UUID to an image of geometic shapes & common resolution (similar to randomart of SSH keys or identicons on user profiles) to briefly show on visor if asked to identify

Thanks to you, i now have a decoded G722 stream of the oddly neat "Flightzone" ringtone from my OpenScape SL6 Dect
