I think we need more fun user interfaces in the world.

Why can't applications be more like video games, where every button makes a little sound, and every change is punctuated with a visual flourish?

This has a practical use, too; by making it literally pop out, it makes the effects of your actions unambiguous.

If Nintendo made a word processor, bolding text would make it balloon outwards for a brief moment before settling, punctuated with a thud. You would know, in your mind and heart, that you bolded the text.

The buttons would also have eyes.

If you look at footage of Nintendo's more tool-esque games, you will see this in a lot of places. Game Builder Garage, Mario Paint, Mario Maker, WarioWare DIY...

If you want a free software example of this, Tux Paint is alright

That said, the fact that I want this in the first place means that I'm well and truly onto something for my workflow. The fact that windows are actually Good enough to manage that I don't want tabs anymore...

IMO the purpose of tabs is to not deal with the clumsy floating window setup. It's like a fullscreen multi-desktop layout, but only in your browser. What a terrible default. Tiling is okay, scrolling is fantastic. #PleaseDisagree

I don't like tricking in Sonic Rush.

You are being asked to mash a button in order to build boost meter? And that button can also do other things, like jump off a pulley by mistake?

And tricking in the air is a different button from tricking on grind rails. Ew.

Everything else about it is amazing though. Especially the music. If you never have any Hideki Naganuma music in your life, you haven't truly lived.

Despite their name and theming, it's not all Sonic fangames! It probably was at first, but now it's mostly indie game demos and fangames of multiple properties. Good stuff. I hope I can participate sometime!
