My computer really needs to be reinstalled with NixOS, my Arch installation starts to be really old and fucked up in many ways.

If memory serves, this is the same installation I’ve had since 2016, after I accidentally wiped my root partition on my previous installation.

Eittlandic vocabulary of the day:

• á regn /ɛ regn̩/: to rain

• á kanik /ɛ kɑnek/: to snow-rain

In Eittlandic, a distinction is made between regular rain (regn) and what could be translated as «snow-rain» (kanik). Typically, «snow-rain» is precipitation that is a mix between snow and rain, and it can occasionally mean «freezing rain» (figurative and literal).

The term «kanik» comes from the Tunrit language, spoken by the Tunrit people. They were the original inhabitants of Eittland, of Eskimo-Aleut descent, and were assimilated by the Eittlandic people within a few hundred years, but not without leaving an impact on the Eittlandic language.

In a bit over a week, my Mastodon instance became the second service on my server using the most disk space (148 GB) after my Plex instance (6.6 TB). It’s still a long shot away from taking first place, but it’s quite impressive it downloaded this much media in such a short amount of time

For the record, it’s a language that evolved from Proto-Latin, but I’m allowing myself quite a large level of freedom compared to the Eittlandic language. And for the record, the aim of the Mauge language is to sound somewhat familiar to French speakers while not being undersandable either. It is mainly a naming language, but I might make a full grammar someday.

I heavily dislike how you simply CANNOT declare constants in #java. The closest thing there is is declaring variables as final, but even then, you’re just preventing the variable from being reassigned, not from being modified.

The #eittlandic language currently has 406 entries in its dictionary! This is by far my most complete #conlang! And I’m still far from done.

I also need to write somewhere about the Tunrit people, the original, indigenous people of Eittland that got assimilated by the Nordic population. Their language influenced quite a bit the Eittlandic language too.

It feels weird to be back on the vanilla advanced UI for Mastodon, after being used to the Glitch UI for so long. I guess I’ll try to install it on this instance.

I think what I’d miss the most, not installing it, would be the ability to publish statuses in Markdown from the web interface.
