When I hear someone challenging accessibility/usability-friendly practices, I teleport to 10 years ago when, as a designer researcher, I objected to a “yellow on white as the accent color”-full redesign and the design manager (who saw his favorite bro designer as a deity) challenged me prove by user tests that this combo didn’t work.
Stop wasting money and time reinventing the wheel because you’re too biased. Standards and good practices exist for a reason higher than your own satisfaction.

Grabbing my pencil to work on the sketching of the comic I started weeks ago and thinking in loop about the infuriating comment I read on Linkedin few months ago saying that "generative AI was democratising illustration, an elitist practice only available to rich kids who could pay for art school".
Errrh you don't need rich parents to draw, just a pencil et a lot of practice. BTW if you have time to bitch on LinkedIn you have time to practice this so-called elitist practice that is drawing.

A few months ago, as the #Berlin senate announced huge cuts in budgets for culture (as well as education, bike infrastructure, public transportation, etc. but fear not parking and other car related services were kept safe), its shameless Mayor justified in media that the supermarket employee didn’t need a subsidized entry to the opera. On top of his undermining and bias, he also didn’t mention that the supermarket employee won’t be able to go to public museums for free on Sunday anymore. Shame!

Reading the content of the current MacOS update:
"This update introduces features powered by Apple Intelligence, the personal intelligence system that unlocks powerful new ways to communicate, work and express yourself, all while protecting your data with an extraordinary step forward for privacy in AI."
Judging by the current state of "things", I guess I need to find a typewriter... and, more durable, to switch to Linux or something less edgy.
Can we come back to tech being fun and creative?

A lot of artists I follow on insta are talking about the huge and urgent challenge they are facing: they want to move away from it but they are scared of losing their audience, their exposure, etc. and also they don't know how to set things by themselves.
We have to help them: how can they join the fediverse (really easy!), where can they share their work, how to create a self-hosted when one knows nothing about code and has little money, etc. Do we already have an existing toolbox?

"As my fingers caress the hollow parts left by the repeated paper cutting and the clumsy wood carving, I want to believe this time it will be different. This time, I might be able to sit again at this desk and feel that I belong. This time, I might not try to hide or disappear."

Burnout recovery is so awkward:
— Hi there! How are you?
— I’m ok. On burnout recovery
— Oh errrh ok. Byyyyye
-_____-“
Burnout is not a virus, you won’t get it from someone else ;)
It is also not a religion so I won’t try to convert you to burnoutism. And YES, recovery sucks because it is quite dark and filled with very challenging emotional rollercoasters but the denial and hidden suffering that happened before the diagnosis is 1000 times worse so recovery is just a bitter tasting medicine.

Continuing on the fireworks topic: I am tired of folks justifying their selfishness and imposed behaviour with “it’s a tradition, it has always been like this”.
Dude, there was a time where surgery was done without anesthesia, people used to walk and cycle before cars, people wrote letters before emails but I don’t see you refusing the anesthesia at the dentist, cycling on the highway and writing letters so calm it down with your very selective and hypocritical love of traditions.

In Germany, December 31st means pouring fireworks (especially at midnight but also in the days around).
On average, a German person will spend 50€ in fireworks for that “occasion”. Funny how some people complain about inflation and use that as an excuse to not give to charity but then happily fill their caddies with explosive devices which will terrify animals and increase air pollution.
Of course one can live their life the way they want but I’m also free to call off the bullshit.

Oui ça met les pieds dans le plat et ça parle colonialisme, et ça met en colère mais ça fait du bien !

Sticking it to #SpaceKaren can be free (and fun): become a #Wikipedia editor!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Introduction
Starting can feel slow and overwhelming (it's a lot of information) but it is quite rewarding to be able to improve the quality, notability, and relevance of existing articles on Wikipedia. Also it helps to better understand how conflicts get resolved and false-information corrected.

“Un immigré qui en voulait à la politique d’immigration de l’Allemagne” euuuh ça va #FranceInter ? Pas trop difficile de phraser une info de terrorisme pour laisser le doute planer, faire penser que le mec se sentait pas bien traité par son pays d’accueil et surtout pas dire “un militant d’extrême droite qui avait immigré en Allemagne mais avait la haine des musulmans et trouvait le pays trop tolérante à son goût” ?
