@actuallyautistic Life for me can often feel like being dumped into the middle of a massive online multiplayer game - but with no understanding of what the object of the game is, or how it's supposed to be played. But then after playing the game for years, still having no clue about the point of it, or how to actually play it.

I have a Pixelfed instance up and running properly now ...I think. My handle on there is @spookyspider @deadrobots.space - and I'll be using that one more for visual stuff - art and project work - and this Mastodon one for more text stuff - random nonsense - 🙃 I'm happy for any follows on there to get things going (I'll mutual), particularly from other Pixelfed servers, though from anywhere really, as I'm trying to federate the instance at the minute.

So that is a 🔺 Pixelfed 🔺 instance now installed on my server! 👍 Now to get it set up and configured and make my account. 🐰 It was easy to install following the official docs, and all went quickly without a hitch

The plan is for me to be using Mastodon for my random weird gibbering and meeting new people to gibber to. Then Pixelfed for posting my random weird artwork, graphic designs, and comic book things.

What are peoples general practices around post retention options in Mastodon? I'm only just looking at them now. I've come from platforms where a permanent timeline is normal, but theres always been something unnatural and unhealthy about it. Anyway, Ive never been good in social settings, including online, and don't say a lot. I'm thinking possibly that posts disappearing may help me to be more confident in posting and interacting more frequently.

Well that's my Mastodon instance upgraded from 4.3.0 to 4.3.2. I do prefer it without those weird over the top hazard bars to be honest 😝 I have never seen the suggested follows thing appear yet, following the 4.3.0 update, so we'll see if that shows up now or not.

Out of curiosity: The fediverse and swearing / cursing. In my around 6 months on the fediverse, I don't think Ive seen a single swear word. With every other platform its very common. Is this an unwritten rule of it's ethics, or does the fedi just attract the type of people that don't swear?

Note: I only tend to swear for emphasis in a particular context. I'm not offended by swear words, but used a lot still seems 'dirty' to me and more difficult to respond to.

Andy Bell an insanely talented singer / performer: The first openly gay pop star. I'm wondering if there is a way to filter posts on Mastodon that have a bluesky link. Or better, to automatically block anyone that posts links to bluesky. Sure I get it's a shiny new toy to play with, but it also still represents everything I'm trying to get away from. So, if I wanted to look at things on there, and willing to look the other way, ignoring the obvious, that's where I would be already, right? I consider those posts spam and I don't want to see them.
