I am here to educate you all about silkie chickens. 🐔

Silkie chickens are a thing you all need to know about today, for absolutely no reason at all. :blobCatBounce:

@human3500 @stephanie @atomicpoet

If you already have it installed on one device, it's not going to cost you anything on another device (provided it uses the same Google account).

Even if they raised the price, you still own that app. They wouldn't make you pay twice for something you already have. That wouldn't make much sense. You generally pay for apps once, then use them on as many devices as you want. You already have it installed elsewhere, so of course it will show as free. That's not an accurate test.

Humour me and open this link from a not-logged-browser or in private browsing mode:

https://play.google.com/store/search?q=pixelix&c=apps

It says $2.99 on my screen. That's what it costs now. Maybe not when you bought it. ;)

Empty platitudes, unnecessary politeness, non-apologies, those things annoy and irritate me to no end.

(Speaking in a customer service context, but this applies pretty universally. Maybe this has irritated me, I've only noticed just now.)

They just grate on me, like nails on a chalkboard.

"We apologize if this made you feel X"

"We apologize for the inconvenience"

(especially if a person is apologizing for an underling's behaviour, and they add "this was not our intent" - how can you know that if you weren't there? Sure, it may not be your intent, or the company's or the organization's, etc — but why am i supposed to care about those? —but none of us are mindreaders.

I know this is supposed to placate me and make feel all warm and fuzzy, but it's doing exactly the opposite. You can't presume someone else's intent. You can't know what's in someone's head. You can't know what their intent was.

In fact, it almost looks like gaslighting.

"No, it's not what you think at all. It's not at all how it looks. It must be something else. No, you must be completely wrong.")

Such non-apologies are definitely a way to get on my nerves. I know bullshit when I see it. 100% chance i will call it out loudly, and I will be the bad guy. And I probably won't care.

Empty words never solved anything.

Some of us just want solutions and actions, in as few words as possible.

I don't know, this might be a shot in the dark, a meaningful resolution is probably more important than trying to make me feel better. Because nine times out of ten, sitting on one's hands and doing absolutely nothing is precisely the problem. if I'm saying "I want you to solve exactly this problem, this thing you broke", it doesn't mean some other imaginary problem.

I'd rather hear "We really don't give a shit about you, and we'll do whatever we want whenever we please" - at least that's an honest answer.

The only thing worse than crazy conspiracy theories from the right are crazy conspiracy theories from the left. Conspiracy theories aren't just a right-wing thing.

I've had to correct one person who posted an Occupy Democrats YouTube video with some crackpot theory that Starlink was used to "rig"/"hack" voting machines & they started finding reasons why every website I posted was wrong, not credible, etc - even when Snopes confirmed there is no evidence. (Aside from Occupy Democrats itself being a questionable source)

I get it. I do. We want to believe so much that Trump didn't win legitimately that we'll believe anyone with a convincing theory (like, we already know the election was bought by Elon, is that not enough?). But it only takes a minute to fact-check what we're reading. It's really not that hard. Critical thinking is such an important skill.
