I'm moving my Version Control System over to my server in my homelab and going with Gitea (www/gitea) for the job.

This is going to be a complete move from GitHub for both my personal projects and VeloInnovate's code. I'm also adding Pipelight (devel/pipelight) to give the setup some extra features.

The idea really excites me Gitea is super lightweight and easy to tweak, which fits perfectly with my homelab needs. I get to self-host my code, keeping me in full control of everything, and Pipelight will help integrate some cool tools and services. Over the weekend I'll be setting up the Jails for the services and make sure everything's isolated and secure before I kick things into gear.

With the biggest project of 2025 starting to kick off on Friday, I started looking for some program to do Aurebesh in a matrix like flow - I was unable to find one so I made a proof of concept with what I want to do with some Rock64 SBC's and 5" displays that will be mounted and recessed on the wall.

Back from the land of whatever virus I had.

Feeling about 85% and back to work on getting my new web app launched by the end of the year, it's a big project and I'm excited to bring it to life.

Going to see how much of a pain this will be to get going on FreeBSD, I haven't found anything around installing it yet so...will I be the first?

Made a Discord Python bot that scraps RSS Feeds and posts them to a channel in my Discord server, that's neat and all.

I am happy to say it is being hosted on a FreeBSD Jail on my R720 in my rack at home - so far so good as well.

The new Intel Core i9-12900k is built. Here's a neofetch like Shell script I wrote to start getting back into Shell scripting including using awk and sed for some information being displayed.

New battery is showing up tomorrow to replace the current L140BAT-4 in my #system76 Lemur Pro 9. Let's hope it gives me another few years out of the machine.

It's running a Intel Core i5-10210u so it's not terribly outdated...yet

Alright collective #FreeBSD mind, if you had the chance to build two 1U servers with running FreeBSD in mind utilizing Bhyve and Jails -- what hardware would you choose?

Now to figure out why my battery life is horrendous on FreeBSD. This laptop normally gets ~10hrs of life out of it fully charge. FreeBSD is getting me around 3-4hrs. While not terrible, I want to push a little more out of it :P

First parts of the custom NVR build have arrived. I'm building it up in a IN-WIN IW-RF100-S315.

I'll post specs and pictures when it's built. :)

Nothing fancy, just running a Celeron processor but the chip doing all the workload is where it will shine. Using a Google Coral M.2 Accelerator with Dual Edge TPUs for the "AI" detection on Frigate.

[#]FrigateNVR is officially up and running on my home network! I started with a single AMCREST Turret Camera to test things out, and for just $60, it’s performing surprisingly well.

Next steps? Adding three more cameras around the house for full coverage. I’m also considering testing out their doorbell camera to see if it supports RTSP as it would be a great addition to the setup and will allow me to add it to Frigate as well.

I also need to invest in the Google Coral TPU to help take the detection load off the CPU of the HP Mini I am running this setup on.

Loving how this is shaping up so far.
