Going to be a long journey back for @luke and his lad. Still they saw plenty of goals I suppose.

My work environment is just perfect.

Arch Linux/Gnome works fine.

I have all my favourite applications working fine.

I am fully compliant with all work security/MFA/software requirements.

After much effort, I can seamlessly get remote access to all my customers.

Why do I feel a burning urge to reinstall Arch (to clear out any ancient clutter), experiment with Linux Mint as my daily driver or revert to Fedora ?

The spectre of @jbaty looms large :-)

All these earnest, technical, neck beards urging everyone to move from WhatsApp to Signal are forgetting one important fact.

Their friends and family who use WhatsApp don't understand and hence don't give a fuck.

If they did, Twitter and Facebook would have died long ago.

Rinse and repeat.

I don't quite get the hype. It's yet another Teriminal app. You enter commands and look at the output. You can configure tabs and profiles.

Just when you thought terminal emulators couldn't get any better, Ghostty ships

My Project Manager is suddenly off until 15 January. Weird he never forewarned me of this as next week, I'll be chairing all the status meetings.

@jwildeboer pods looks cool and appears to be a native Gnome application. Unlike podman-desktop, it doesn't use the bloatware known as Electron.

One of my favourite things about FOSS is choice. You don't like A. Fair enough. Feel free to choose to try B or C. Or even choose to write D.

Inspired by @jwildeboer I am re-visiting #podman I'm a casual user (idiot) so really need a management GUI

I didn't really warm to podman-desktop but pleased to see I can use Portainer (although it needs some root privs). Will look at 'pods' too.

I use emacs and org but sometimes I just want to make one or more quick notes. Sometimes it's genuinely a disposable, transient thought so I viewed org-capture as overkill. Sometimes, I might want to remember what I jotted down and extend it the next day.

I tended to use the scratch buffer and then save (if necessary) to '~/tmp/xxx.txt'. This was clearly sub-optimal.

The built-in #Emacs remember package is much better. Can't believe I've only just discovered it.

I'm old. I'm tired. This isn't my first rodeo. I've seen hundreds of bug reports from end users. Some made me laugh, some made me cry.

This one has just gone to the top of the all-time league table.

We have had many false dawns and emperor's new clothes but I like Amorim's interviews where he actually calls players out - even after a 4-0 victory.

Our actress friend who featured on Celebrity Masterchef didn't particularly like Greg Wallace - but only because he repeatedly called her 'Lynn' and roared with laughter (instead of by her real name).

She didn't much care for John Torode though.

Thank , I am a 'working man' so the new Tory government wearing red ties are leaving me well alone while they go after pensioners, non working farmers, students, small businesses and young people struggling to find employment.
