Well that was weird. Woke up to no wifi. Not no internet, our wifi network was just gone. Even though we have three APs, and all had power, none of them seemed to be broadcasting networks. Even weirder, the thread network seemed to be down as well, so matter over thread switches couldn’t talk to matter over thread lights.
Dream Router’s little display was totally black, so unplugged it and plugged it back in and then everything just started working again. Never seen that particular failure mode before with it somehow also preventing APs from broadcasting. Not sure why it would have affected the thread mesh, either, which is possibly more disturbing (but fortunately not essential).

Apparently a popular chain of Chinese restaurants from Chicago is opening a location near our house in #Baltimore. Because this news was relayed to me verbally by an English speaker, and because I learned Mandarin in Shanghai, I heard the name as 老子串 (Lǎozǐ chuàn), which sounds like a somewhat whimsical, Daoism-themed 串* restaurant. It is, in fact, called 老四川 (lǎo sìchuān)…
Or, as they chose to render it in the Roman alphabet, Lao Sze Chuan. I’ll give it a shot, but I was more excited by the prospect of a street food oriented restaurant.
