An old truck seen over the Buller Gorge swing bridge in the historic mining reserve. Might need a change of oil and jump start.

Surprise! It’s raining again. Here’s a photo of the sun and a beach before all memory of such things are lost in the mists of time (and the rain).

The Ahuriri estuary bridge with Napier in the background. Opened in 1922 and closed to cars in 1989, it’s a popular walking and biking spot now. The railway side was still operational until the Napier Wairoa line closed after Cyclone Gabrielle. I can vaguely recall nervously driving across the narrow bridge, there’s no way it would be wide enough for modern vehicles. As always there’s a pigeon watching.

Winner On The Day
Snapped this one as the Harvards did one last pass along the coast off from Napier one art deco festival, this one lead the group. On the zoomed in full resolution image you can see the pilot looking back across to the crowds on the beach watching.

Having a play with monochrome. Found the contrast equalizer module in darktable which seems super powerful.

Think I’m making progress with editing images with darktable. Now with the pc monitor setup properly I’m seeing the same thing as on other screens or pretty close anyway. Trying so hard not to overcook edits, not too saturated, not too much contrast, kind of natural with a slight boost. Still finding my way. It’s been a journey of exploring less.

Where Dinosaurs Roam
Discovered at Boundary Stream Reserve in Hawke's Bay NZ this beautiful stream eventually flows over Shine Falls and feels like it's from a time when dinosaurs roamed the earth.

Love the Napier telephone exchange building, always wonder what’s going on inside the windows. The original building out of frame to the left is an art deco treasure and this extension was added in the 80’s perhaps.

Bought Halide camera app in 2018 which admittedly is a long while back but only recently started using it. A recent update said they were doing subs now, I could still use it but not any new features. Another update today and locked out, can’t restore purchase, only subscribe for a significant NZ $39.99 annual amount or a NZ $99.99 one off price. That’s a rock hard pass no thank you. Imagine buying it again only to be locked out in a few years when they decide to change things again. #Halide

Spotted this Tui at Raglan a couple of years ago. There were a lot of Harakeke flowering so didn’t have to wait long before this one showed up for a tasty meal of nectar.

The image file posted is quite low res at about 700px wide, is it big enough? I don’t want to post too high resolution but also it needs to be big enough. Feedback appreciated.
