Peace out, David Lynch.
I have nothing insightful to add that hasn’t been said by so many others. Some of my favorite movies, along with some movies I didn’t like so much. but always interesting. I wish more people would watch The Straight Story which I think is one of his top tier films. One of the most essential artists of my lifetime.
(tbh not a great pressing as there some surface distortion on a couple tracks which is noticeable on such a chill album.)

Here's the vinyl rip of Su Tissue - Salon de Musique on archive.org.
Seems it's a good one per one reviewer, "Grabbed this thinking it’d be some fake upsampled thing, but no - it’s a real 24/192 vinyl rip, and a decent one at that (whoever did it took time to clean up the vinyl noise). I looked at it with Adobe Audition’s spectral view and it’s got frequency activity consistent with an analog vinyl recording, and more importantly it sounds light years better than the MP3s that have been floating around the internet for years.
Kudos to whoever ripped and posted this."

Watched a YouTube video on about “The ghost of Su Tissue” of The Suburban Lawns. From it I learned that after the break up that band, after her small but scene stealing role in Something Wild, she released an album of solo piano music (before withdrawing from the public eye). It appears the album has never been reissued and I have no idea how many were printed. As you can imagine it is mad expensive.
It’s easy enough to find a digital rip of the #vinyl but what a cool album to have in a collection. On the other hand… lol at that price.

The theme for @Kitty’s #tunetuesday is #canisLupus and since I just heard this classic the other day it came to mind.

Neil Young - Comes a Time
Got this last Friday at my local, Turn It Up! Brattleboro #Vermont. I’d been keeping an eye out for this since J left this comment on my post on the blog about Harvest Moon.
I miss these sorts of casual insights that J used to drop. #SpaceAceSunday

Not to be old man yells at YouTube but I literally just told it I wasn't interested in a video titled "10 albums the critics love which are crap!" The thumbnail a hipster looking dude making YouTube sour face and giving a thumbs down while holding a later day Yes album. Oy vey.
I mean, I get it, rage bait, it's a living, et cetera, hate the game not the player, et cetera. But just the hubris of aspiring to be some sort of arbitrator of what is good, what is crap on a universal level, so stupid. Like, I'm never going to fully dig a Yes album but I don't expect anyone to have the same taste I do nor do I feel the need to convince anyone one way or another. Certainly have standards, be in discussion with your aesthetics, with the people around you. But being a dick about your opinions about music is such a sad way to go through life.
Be better, man.

Peace out, Mr Carter.
Carter’s candidacy was the first US presidential election I was really aware of. I remember it quite clearly. My mother and her circle were all Carter supporters. And I just got more radicalized by Reagan and how they ratfucked Carter, how they ratfucked the country. Carter wasn’t perfect—he was still president of an imperial project and didn’t radically challenge that—but he seemed humbled by the experience. Not being paid millions to sanctimoniously lecture us on how we were failing the nation.

Ah shit. Peace out, Olivia Hussey. You know, I just watched Black Christmas yesterday. A remarkable nuanced performance. A terrific actress all around.

The other record from my wishlist that the seller had was the first Hot Chocolate record. It was J who got me listening to Hot Chocolate. He was a big fan. He had gifted me the Greatest Hits record, but I am looking to getting into the deep cuts.

Just arrived via Discogs. It’s been on the wishlist for a while. Just came up in good condition from a seller who had another record I’ve been waiting on. Good price.
A lovely record. I’m definitely going to keep tracking down these early Windham Hill records. (Condition is definitely a consideration with Windham Hill vinyl as it tends to be quiet so surface noise can be very prominent.)

Guitarists of the Fediverse, what’s your favorite guitar strings, gauge and why? I’ve used most recently Ernie Ball Regular Slinky 10-46. I like a slightly heavier gauge. Why I chose Ernie Ball…? Someone recommended them probably. I’m easily influenced. I may just get them again.

Now watching 70s classic Black Christmas. I’ve seen this movie like 5 times and I’m more convinced than ever it’s one of the greatest movies of the 70s. Not just ahead of its time as a horror movie but a tremendous film in all regards. An amazing cast. Excellent locations and cinematography. Sad, funny in moments, and genuinely tense and creepy.
My partner Red has an excellent feminist reading of this film. It’s barely even subtext. A scary testament to being a woman in a patriarchal society.

I’m by and large a conscientious objector to Christmas but I like seeing how it brings joy to others. I hope you’re all having a wonderful day, my Mastodon oddballs, nerds, and freaks.

Apparently it’s in rights limbo between Disney, HBO and Children’s Television Workshop, so here’s a graymaket Muppets Family Christmas. Vintage Muppets with a Sesame Street cross-over.
