I'm serious. I have a gallon bag of stickers from events and I have just never felt a compulsion to put them on my laptops. Macs, ThinkPads, EliteBooks. I just don't get it. Help me understand the madness.

Why is Apple's #Freeform app so good on #iPad? What is the equivalent for #Android? #Linux (on 2-in-1 or tablet)?

[#]RNote on Linux? I just sold my 2-in-1 so can't test RNote right now to compare. But interested in others' opinions.

Anything else out there that's as clean as Freeform? I just reach for it anytime I'm laying anything out, like designing a room or story boarding or making a design board.

I was listening to the @linuxexperiment podcast this morning on the way into work. In it he mentioned that KDE's file manager can now sort videos by video dimensions and I laughed in #BeOS.

Everything that is old is new again. I still to this day wonder how much further ahead we'd be if BeOS was able to keep going. All these new OSes/distros/desktops having to reinvent the wheel- sometimes just to fit their paradigm.

Aight, finally had time today to swap NVMEs on my current testing laptop (HP ZBook Firefly 14 G7). #Fedora NVME removed and in an external enclosure. #elementaryOS installed on a new NVME.

I don't like to run things in a VM to test with for main desktops. Bare metal is where it's at. Let's see how this new OS handles for the next few weeks.

After being here in the Fediverse for a while, and learning from so many others (seriously, no other "social" medium has come close), one thing has become abundantly clear:

I am so glad I've never run Windows here at home. SO glad. Even throughout my career, I've rarely had to use Windows.

Anyone else had this @awakari bot follow them to index their toots? I'm not sure whether to block this search engine/data aggregator or let it do it's thing to get more fediverse exposure for the place.

One thing I think that's crap already is "by allowing them to follow me, I'm agreeing to allow them to index and aggregate my toots".

So it's opt-out which I always feel is a crappy model.

You know, it's been a while, so I am again trying to program the thumb button on my #Logitech #mxergo trackball. Being #linux, that damn button isn't "seen" per se. I see no event generated when running xe.

I read somewhere that #solaar could do it, but I've never been able to get it to assign anything to it.

Has anyone successfully done this?

To be clear, my M1 mini has actually been only running as a Plex server and I use my #ThinkPad T480 as my primary machine.

I'm almost done replacing the function of the #Plex server with an Aoostar R1. It's part of my #ProxMox cluster and has the Intel N100, so transcoding will be hardware based.

This also has the advantage of being able to run #TrueNAS and migrating my DAS from the M1.

The function of the #ThinkCentre P360 will be to do the AI stuff I find slow on the M1.
