Assassin's Creed: Origins

approx. 32h

It had some hilariously glaring hiccups near the start, then kinda progressed into a boring, uninvolved and very repetitious affair as it went along.

At the very least, the bosses were pretty creative for this franchise. The story also has rare beats of joy spread out, but all suspension of disbelief for this series has been utterly crushed at this point, so I'm not sure what to make of it.

I didn't like it, but it does have potential, I think.

Last Bible III

Time: 30h23m

One of my favorite jRPG experiences of my entire life. Though the gameplay is antiquated, unbalanced, and... Well, bad sometimes, the nuanced, character-based, interwoven, solidly constructed traditional narrative is something that has to be seen to be believed. It's a damn shame that this game didn't get an international release, as it truly deserved it.

I rank this game's story up there with the best of the era. 6 days before Chrono Trigger!

The 7th Saga

Time: 26h44m

A rite of passage kind of game for RPG veterans due to its difficulty, which was insanely increased from the original japanese.

... And thankfully, at that, since the actual game, occasionally interesting gameplay ambitions and mostly rock-solid application of traditional RPG mechanics notwithstanding, is one of the most barebones RPG experiences ever released.

The insane difficulty is by far the most interesting thing about it, in my opinion.

Another Bible

Makes me wonder what Atlus's mentality was back in early SMT days. Were they just trying whatever they possibly could to see if at least ONE of the million branches of the franchise stuck?

The Majin Tenseis were a bit boring progression-wise, but their complexity, customization, and presentation - specially in MT2 - spoke for themselves.

THIS is just a boring pushover slog. You really have to try to stay focused.

Skip if you're not a completionist masochist.
