I will mainly post about gaming, Linux, (game) development and sometimes personal stories.

I do play to much x4 I think just started to build my first wharf. I do produce half of the materials I need to keep it running myself.

I also produce all the building materials, so it is mostly free to build ๐Ÿ˜‚

Just got my mind blown, as you might have read I started to use conventional git commits, trying to bundle my commits in a good fashion way with valuable commit messages.

As I created a merge request today I just noticed how much easier reviewing will be as you can click on commits made on this review and only see changes related to example a refactor or an feature.

I really hate it to find bugs in long running stuff.

I need to wait ~15 - 20 minutes to reach my breakpoints, so I can check what exactly is the issue, trying some stuff and wait again.

Sadly there is no data set I could use which would get me a result faster ...

Now I spend the time between waiting to refactor the code base, let's hope I do not add another bug ๐Ÿ˜‚

Alright today I learned about the git commit conventional.

My commit message where always a mess because I never was sure what to write there. That did make them useless for me an other people I do work with.

I do want to change that and do try this convention going onward.

Today I really learned why good commit messages are so important, nobody ever teached me that and it took me several years to realize that myself.

Quick question about @loops. I did thought about creating an account to post something like YouTube Shorts for gaming.

Is this ta good place for a platform like this? My current understanding of loops is that it is more or less for lifestyle like short videos or sketches.

I know there are specific services in the Fediverse which are like YouTube.

I just tried git rebase for the first time to squash a feature branch together.

This seems to be very useful if you like me and make multiple commits for changing a method documentation block to get it right.

Now I can squash them together, sadly it was already pushed so I did need a force push. That force pushing felt wrong to me.

Is there a better solution if the commits are already pushed to a forced push?

I do have a question for all the Tokodon users out there.

Is there an easy solution to limit the language selection? Is it really hard to find another one on all the possibilities, that is really annoying to me.

Just got my first Destroyer in x4 Frontier. Also this is one of my stations I use for my operations.

Around 50 hours in the game, I do hope my wife still recognizes me.

At the end of last year I did try to convince my father to continue using his old PC instead of buying a new one which can run Win11.

Sadly he was like "I do not want to try getting my software to work, I want to turn it on and it should run just like before.

I did not know how I could argue with a statement like this. How would you approach something like this?

What do you tell people to convince them to continue using there old Hardware?

I forgot to post an update. I released a new version of Samory last Friday.

This includes an option menu, music, filterable decks in the game lobby and buttons for the homepage and other important places.

Feel free to check it out on my itch page. Either play it in the browser or load the binary for Linux or Windows.

Hey fellow game devs since I'm really bad at understaing license agreements maybe someone could help me.

I still do need some music for my game and found some really awesome tracks which are licensed within the CC-0 (Public Domain) license.

Is it allowed to use track with that license and upload it to a public GitHub repository? Otherwise I could not use it for my project.

I really should use a timer if playing Vintage Story. Already player one hour more than I wanted to ...

I just wanted to start building my new warehouse and use a brick like block as a base ...

I do hope I can keep up the pace with Samory. Got distracted by Vintage Story once again.

The last time this happened I lost 100h to play the game ๐Ÿ˜‚

It's such a relaxing game even with the horror elements.

Yesterday I learnt that creating an option menu for a simple game like Samory this can take more time than creating the game itself ๐Ÿ˜‚

I just took me around 5 hours to do so. Since I never did an real option menu I properly over complicated a lot of stuff. It's also not easily extendable since every new settings needs to be added on multiple places in the code.

I just uploaded my first playable version of my memory game I worked on for some weeks now

That's the current state of the lobby menu, which is not fully controllable by a controller.

The ui uses some kenney assets, same goes for all the sounds.

@kenney Thank you for make the assets free to useโค๏ธ This does enable me to create this as an hobby project.

I also changed the selection shader, which is now a glowing edge.

The plan is to make the code open source as soon as I added some image to the card decks.
