Programmers are always told to leave comments in their code for others to undertstand. I used to believe this was some oddity of programming and didn't bother. Then a thought occured to me: my code could become a artifact of history.

This has to be a fucking joke. Over at another corner of the fediverse, one user has to find a way to pirate software for the wheels of his wheelchair to work. The most important functions of his wheelchair are locked behind a €300 ($327 USD) paywall. This is something that would've happened in a William Gibson novel. Why has this been allowed to happen? What next: paying $500/month to have

a properly functioning digestive system? Will a woman's fertility be behind a paywall? Wait, don't tell the neoliberals; it will give them an idea.
