Horsegirl's new album, Phonetics On And On will be out soon. I'm mesmerized by the new video for "Switch Over". They have a kind of low-key power brewing here. I want to call it indie rock but with a layer of shoegaze in there too. Love it !!! (Yes, a three exclamation point type of love !)

This song has reset me to relax mode. A breezy melody that belongs on a playlist with Half Alive or The Killers.

I've been neglecting my turntable lately. Turning that around with The Godfathers, and their 1989 album "More Songs About Love & Hate". No complaints here. My highlights from the record: "She Gives Me Love" "Pretty Girl" & "I Don't Believe In You".

Mike Edwards has such a distinctive voice. He's in fine form on the most recent Jesus Jones single, "Animal Instinct". Angsty and a little dark to match the times.

I have a soft spot for Scottish band Travis. Their 2001 song "Side" is one of my all time favorites. As they tour North America, I've been listening to their album released last summer "L.A. Times". This review includes the video for "Gaslight".

As a college station, WBWC highlights local bands that haven't yet gained a major following outside of Ohio. Annadale is an Akron band that I hadn't heard until we started playing "Like A Leaf" on the station. So good!! Recommended if you like the less heavy side of Smashing Pumpkins or a harder edged Beabadoobee.

My introduction to LLoyd Cole was hearing "Lost Weekend" on a mix cd given to me years ago. Then I was hooked. This feature on Cole includes "The Idiot" from 2023.

In appreciation of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, I'm curious about which people and/or writings that have inspired you to make yourself a better person or to make the world a better place. The first thing that comes to mind is The Autobiography Of Martin Luther King Jr.

Another album that had gotten lost in my music collection. File this under 80's Canadian pop. Works on a playlist with Tears For Fears, The Church or Glass Tiger.

If I had a playlist of musical caffeine, this song would be on it. "Like You Did Before" by Circa Waves is a preview of "Death & Love Part 1" due out on January 31st.

I have a love it or leave it attitude with many Father John Misty songs. Maybe I move on too quickly if they don't grab me in the first 30 seconds. But, "She Cleans Up" has grabbed me. The song from his Mashmashana album belongs on a playlist with The Struts or Cake.

Pulled this album off the shelf. I hadn't listened to "White On Blonde" by Texas in a long while. 90's melodic alt-pop.

Sometimes on a search for new music, you might find old music that is new-for-you. I'm impressed that a college radio blog sang the praises of The Sundays, a band that hasn't recorded or played a show in more than 25 years.

A lot of alternative music and a little talking about the music. Reflecting on classic 80's & 90's artists through to today. Think Tori Amos, Robert DeLong & The Plimsouls all in one hour of music.

A garage rock / art rock band from Akron, Ohio that's lasted 50 years. I'm really amazed. They are still as Devo as ever in this Tiny Desk Concert from last year....
