One of my favourite music videos of all time. I found myself on a train across Sweden recently, facing backwards at roughly the right angle, so I popped this on my headphones and blissed out.

Back on 2002, when this came out, the use of CGI was usually glaringly obvious. But I think it took me a minute or two to realise that was why all the musical elements were synced so well.

I have been meditating for nearly a year now (not continuously, obviously, more like 15-30min per day).

This means that I'm reaching the "intermediate" stage of figuring out what works for me. And like most intermediates I look back on how far I've come, and how much more I know than the "beginner" I was not long ago. I'm starting to reach the summit of the foothills, and yet to see the mountains they obscure.

Anyway, I have thoughts on what I've learned so far that I want to throw out there as randomly and cryptically as I can manage. So I thought I'd start a pinned thread that I can add to whenever the whim blows.

I am in no way an expert (and correct me if I'm wrong), but...

It's weird, and rather galling, that the Right broke with Neoliberalism before the Left did, given that it was somewhat forced upon us late last century.

1970s: Neoliberalism invented

1980s: Enthusiastically adopted by the Right (Regan, Thatcher)

1990s: Reluctantly adopted by the Left (Clinton, Blair)

2000s: Discredited by the GFC

2010s: Right rejects the concepts, if not the name (Trump 1, Johnson)

2020s: Left still campaigning on the concepts, if not the name.

(I'm ignoring Keating in Australia in the 80s for convenience and because I'm not sure if he was enthusiast or forward-thinking pragmatist.)

A reminder to Israeli society that the soldiers doing your genocide (reluctantly or enthusiastically) will eventually be returning home to live among you again.

Sooo, we're a COVID household again (probably via school where kids haven't been eligible for boosters for 2½ years for some unfathomable reason).

I know the new tradition is to not announce it and keep it secret so as not to scare the horses, but that just gives everyone a false impression of risk via the availability heuristic.
