I've recently discovered I really dig #reggae and #dub. I got here through #MassiveAttack. One of my favourite tracks is Man Next Door. I didn't know it was a cover. Once I found out it was an old reggae tune, I started tumbling down the rabbit hole. You're never too old to appreciate new genres of #music. 🤘 ✌️

I know I said I don't post much about #politics, and this is true, but it's currently difficult not to think about it. I feel an intense sadness when I think about the future and the fall of #America into #Russia 2.0. I long had a feeling this would happen, I just hoped it wouldn't. I'm afraid that liberal democracy is dying, and not just in the #USA. The #left has utterly failed. Yes, I blame the (so-called) left-wing/liberal parties for doing nothing to stop this. I don’t think people realise how corrupt #americanpolitics are. Maybe because it has happened over a few decades. Dipshits actually think #Trump is going to fix things, this time, for some reason. He didn’t do shit the first time except turn the presidency into a grift. I’ve seen pundits insist people will get tired of it and wake up when things get bad. No, they won’t. They are assuming Americans are at all rational. They’re not. If they were, there would have been comprehensive, sane federal gun laws put into place. Most people on #Mastodon seem to be interested in alternatives to the modern #worldwideweb so why isn’t anyone talking about or using things like #gemini_protocol? Gemini (not the Google AI crap) is an alternative to the #www spec. It’s feels so much like the early web. It doesn’t lend itself to commercial interests because it’s so bare bones and odd. Gemini would be a far more suitable place to put various types of tech documentation than on the Web. That’s just one use case. The dearth of even basic curiosity about it is baffling to me.

I’ve done the whole #crypto #bitcoin thing. No large amounts and I'm not a #cryptobro. But I’ve come to a conclusion: it’s stupid. It’s a hassle and overly complicated. I’m stunned anyone takes white papers seriously, at all. My approach is the one I still think is the best, and has worked for me — it doesn’t matter if it has an actual purpose, what matters is that everyone else thinks it’s has value.
