I made my own slide deck for talks using Astro.

I've just realized how useful @scope can be, for including examples directly inside of a slide.

Nice to easily have working examples in a slide with such little effort.

(the is:inline is only because it's in Astro)

Anyone seen subgrid used out in the wild? Looking for examples of it in production sites

You'd think you'd feel less imposter syndrome after accomplishing something, but it turns out that thinking back to those things you've accomplished can cause it to flare up again 😅

I talk a lot about this in this reflection on my past ~12 months: https://www.kevinpowell.co/article/unexpected-achievements/

Need to add a keyboard shortcut to your blog post or some docs?

A lot of people turn to (or backticks in .md files) because it defaults to monospace, but you should be using instead - https://html-css-tip-of-the-week.netlify.app/tip/kbd/

Caught something over the holidays that gave me a cough. I even lost my voice at one point.

Been feeling fine for the past ~4 days, though, so figured it's time to get back on track with my recordings!

Hit record, say like four words and then I start coughing like crazy and it just won't stop 🙃

I was going to hold off until Monday, but I got all the thumbnails, end screens, and whatnot finished, so figured there was no reason to wait :)

a11y question: Is there a situation where you wouldn't want to use a role="alert" on error messages for form submissions?

I should have recorded the unboxing, instead of only taking pictures, but I didn't realize how fun it would be to open, lol.

(For those who read the letter, Lisa was my partner manager for the last several years)

So it was a Thank You gift from YouTube!

I can only attach 4 pictures here at a time, so you get to go through the unboxing with me and wait to find out what it was before I figure out the alt-text for the next 4 images, lol

The mystery package has arrived, and it wasn't a scam!

Also, was not me or my wife who ordered it. We'd been arguing that the other one had ordered something and forgot about it, lol.

Anyone want to guess what it is?

So, I got an email a few days ago about an incoming UPS delivery. Assumed spam and ignored it.

Yesterday I got a "cleared customs email". Asked my wife, she had no idea about it either...

Copied and pasted the tracking number to see if it's legit, and it seems like it is 🤷

Says it's coming from "And Drop". I have no idea what that could be.

Got an updated delivery date for it this morning, so on Monday I find out! 😁

Hoping it's not some boring thing that we forgot that we ordered, lol.

Anyone have suggestions for a game, or games, to play with my 13-year old on PC or Switch?

There are a few Roblox games that he likes playing with me that are just grind-fests, and I'd much rather play a proper RPG or something similar-ish.

Ideally, multiplayer, but I used to have fun with Final Fantasy sessions with my friends back in the day, so could do a single-player game too.
