Honest question, what do people actually use their PCs for, except for programming. And what apps for you all use regularly?

I feel like I never use any apps on my PC

Is someone from my mastodon circle actively using bluesky? Trying out bluesky to get a more diverse feed instead of only development related things.

Alpine on desktop is pretty sick, ngl. Love the sub-packages approach compared to optional dependencies that Arch has… not that it’s better or worse, it’s just my taste. I need setup-alpine for tumbleweed lol

Current contenders are Alpine, Chimera, Void and possibly something Gentoo based like Xenia. Idk if Void’s init system is my cup of tea tho. Any experiences? Gentoo seems scary with building everything from source lol

Which musl based non-systemd Linux distro should I try on desktop? OpenRC preferably, but anything goes really.

Also, I would be keen on trying non-GNU coreutils but that might be a stretch too far lol

Met one of the coolest persons today. @yukari is literally creating her own distribution with its own codestream (package repository). https://os.ewe.moe/ is using really really cool components like musl, mold, pacman and OBS, while being as lightweight and simplistic as possible.

Furthermore, it has the best branding and cutest mascot hands down! Just love it and want you all to know about this gem :blobfoxheartcute:
