Threads joining the social web was, to me, a good thing. Yes, Meta are about as welcome as a hyena on ketamine. But, people use Meta products.

Social media is complicated because humans are complicated.

To grow open social media, we need to go beyond the surface arguments of what makes it better and deeper into what people really want from a platform.

Human behaviour is a complicated thing, but one thing is certain - liberal people are less scared of change.

That's why platforms like this one and others in the New Social space are being branded 'echo chambers'.

It's something we need to bear in mind as we grow this space.

My sister is a marine biology student at The University of Glasgow. They're currently raising funds for an expedition to Thailand where they'll work with the Center for Oceanic Research and Education.

It is now critical for journalists, charities, and government organisations to leave X.

Every post there supports and funds Trump's government. That money will no doubt go towards human rights violations.

Do they really want to be a part of that? Do their stakeholders?

A whole year since we first welcomed the #Fediverse to Newsmast!

It's amazing, I can't believe we've done so much in such a short amount of time without the backing of any big grants or funding opportunities.
