I know I shouldn’t be surprised, but I gasped when JD Vance said that families struggling with the cost of childcare should ask grandparents or an aunt to help out, and that would alleviate the cost. Sure. The GOP solution is just to exploit extended family - what the hell kind of policy is that? In Canada, the federal government’s response was to offer $10/day daycare. I’m not saying that it has rolled out perfectly in every province, but it beats strong arming Grandma and Grandpa. Good grief.

In Ontario, where I live, menstrual products are provided in schools for free. That is just basic hygiene, like toilet paper. IMO, Democrats should make it clear that it’s a compliment when Tim Walz is called Tampon Tim because it demonstrates not only much needed empathy, but that a vagina is not something to be afraid or scornful of.
