Looks like the Home Assistant Voice Assistant preview is working - one step closer to de-Googling my home.
I do need to look at either
If anyone has experience with the latter, let me know.

Anyone have suggestions for homelab syslog aggregation?
I don't really want to set up a full ELK stack - so maybe graylog2?
I'm looking to have my AP/router dump logs someplace centralized.

So it helps if you actually specify the VLAN IDs in your bridge-vids
... but for some reason, I'm still not getting one specific VLAN ID to work on one of my three proxmox systems.
Any other ideas for troubleshooting?

Weekend ToDo:
Well I'm almost done. For some reason, despite identical Proxmox and Brocade configuration, Linux VLANs aren't working on two of my three hosts. Looks like I'm keeping the super janky bonded USB ethernet around for at least another week.

Hrm. Related to my prior post - do I need Plenum cable for attic runs? I'm not going through air ducts - and CAT6A Riser grade is about the same as CAT6 Plenum.

Okay #homelabber folks. I'm running ethernet to my office and I can either have one or two drops at the wall.
My Orbi AP will be moving upstairs to the office, sharing space with my gaming PC, work laptop, and various tinkering projects/raspberry pis.
The AP needs multiple VLANs for the various SSIDs, while the computer systems are typically on one VLAN.
There's no shortage of port density on my core switch, and currently everything is running CAT6/1 Gbps (aside from my Ceph cluster which is backed by SFP+ 10Gbps).
Regardless of either option, I'll be digging out a managed 5 port switch for use upstairs.

Well fuck. A kitty-cornered neighbor has been leaving their pit mix outside in subfreezing temperatures on a tether for hours on end.
Calls to the Humane Society and county animal control number are going unanswered.
They don't share a property line with us, but we can see/hear their dog.
Would it be weird to buy a dog house for them? Or maybe steal their dog?

It's hard getting into the Christmas spirit this year, but I'm trying. Here's Bean chilling on my lap with a festive collar.

I'm trying to research/find citations for all the awful that's coming our way in the next Trump presidency - mostly to prepare for a (excuse the phrase) "come to jesus" sit down with my Trumper parents.
Holy shit. It is exhausting going through the Project 2025 pdf, trying to pull out what might impact their world view. Trying to find specific citations of Trump's ramblings is a nightmare of incoherent babble, and it's all making me just sick to my stomach.
I fucking know they'll demand literal quotes (probably audio too) before they even entertain believing things - and even then I'll need at least two or three paragraphs of "context".
It's almost not even worth my mental sanity to do this.
Can you just ghost your parents?

I wonder if there's a way to set up ProtonVPN for an entire VLAN. My Wifi supports layer 3 separation per SSID - my goal would be to have an SSID for "normal" traffic, then a SSID for "vpn" that would force all traffic through the VPN.
Maybe setting up a DHCP client on the vpn VLAN, specifying the gateway is an interface on the wireguard client, then using it to connect to protonvpn?
Has anyone done something so stupid like this before?

Spending some time away from scrolling. The backyard is finally fenced so Bean can run around without getting into too much trouble, so we're both hanging out.
I've opted to get the under and top quilt out for my hammock and I'm trying to relax (as if that's even possible).

I shit you not, this was her fortune.

I was productive yesterday - I spun up my first kubernetes cluster on my three node Proxmox cluster. The controller and 3x worker nodes are Rocky LXC containers.
The problem I'm attempting to solve is this monolithic beast of a docker host VM - it's running 12 containers and is struggling. I'm hoping to move to kubes to
