It's crushing to see how many Reddit posts have popped up in the last weeks where users ask /t/tattooadvice how they can best cover up their queer/pride tattoos, because they fear for their safety.

I don't know if I should make a new pixelfed account or just keep tooting here and attach an image if I want my pixelfed friends to see it. I'll wait for now and wave from Mastodon to my new federated friends 😇

Øyvind Eide at #Euromed2024 : "you don't need a knowledge graph for storytelling, but knowledge graphs can be useful tools to enable learning and storytelling."
"With a 'Memory Viewer' we're moving from 3D viewing to 3D storytelling. Annotations are part of this movement. Annotations can link different and conflicting views and stories together."

"Creators like Q&A, users like stories. Creating paradata through Q&A is good for retrievability and technical interoperability. Stories are good for reusability and understandability."
"So do both: ask questions, and tell stories, to create useful and diverse paradata."

Isto Huvila at #Euromed2024 : "When it comes to paradata, you will never be able to capture it all."
"There is objective paradata created by asking questions (e.g "what tools were used to digitise this?"), and there is subjective paradata created by telling stories (told by data historians, reusers, curators). The second type is maybe the most interesting and more relevant type of paradata"

I searched for the phrase "apologies for cross-posting" today, after having become slightly irritated when I read it for the umpteenth time in a mailing list message. Did anyone else get grumpy from reading this message? Was there a viral twitter thread about this phrase already?
Of course @rubenverborgh had already written a whole post about it ten years ago. Happy tenth anniversary! Ten years on people are still rolling their eyes when they get mailing list updates.

Also learned about the Wikimedians for Software Freedom initiative, which has a very nicely structured and informative metapage outlining the why, what and how, with great alternatives for all the pesky walled-in commercial software we use today. Read and sign it now!

second and last day of #glamhack24 in the beautiful city of Luzern, I can say I'm absolutely overjoyed by the creativity and work of these hackers, not only those working on the Europeana dataset but the other challenges too. I'm very much looking forward to the final project pitches this afternoon.
Just look at these happy faces grappling with the Europeana Data Model!
