This weeks #hamchallenge was a nice research detour. It gave me both some new insights in call sign history and also revived memories into the times when I was a fresh radio amateur.

To retain my my research results I wrote them down combined with some memories down into a longer text. At the moment just for me, but maybe I'll publish that in future as blog article or something like that.

I started ham radio with a class C (VHF & up) licence and my first call sign was DC8TD. It seems that it was only issued once before in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

After pasing the morse code test I was issued my current DF5GO. That call sign was also issued only once before. Surprisingly the previous holder lived in the town where I grew up.

What great conditions on 2m today!

I participated in the Marconi #VHF #CW #contest for less than three hours. As usual from a small hill in Berlin with counts for #POTA (#DE0315).

I think, it was the first time that I worked Switzerland from Berlin. Many distant stations had booming signals here just if they were only a few kilometres away.

Summary:

Total: 10640

QSO: 31

ODX: 658 km, thanks #F8KID!

AVG: 343 km/QSO

LOC: 19

DXCC: 8

TRX: FT-818

PWR: 6 W
