Australian Magpie, Gymnorhina tibicen. Absolutely nothing like the N hemisphere Magpie. Not a member of the crow family, completely different temperament - much sweeter. And sings beautifully. #birds #birdwatching #nature #wildlife #australia #inaturalist

Violet Sea Snail, Janthina janthina, washed up on Umina Beach, NSW, Australia. These follow the flotillas of 'Bluebottle' jellyfish (which they eat) and get stranded on the beach alongside their prey.

Peregrine Falcon, which came to sit and squawk in the big gum tree in our back yard. It hung around for quite a while. Think it had downed one of the many Spotted Doves in the area, but next door's cat was keeping it from its prey...

Cowboy Beetle, Chondropyga dorsalis, which are large and noisy beetles, pretty common in SE Australia. They buzz around and bang into windows and get themselves into all sorts of noisy bother during the summer.
