I build health plans into an EMR for my job and it never stops appalling me to see how stratified health insurance is. It’s bad for everyone, but “low cost” plans aren’t just more expensive — they’re also vastly more complicated. Not a groundbreaking thought, but a reminder that corporations are active participants in the class war. It’s not just about the cost, it’s about ensuring that those who are more likely to appeal services can’t easily understand their rights. It’s intentional.
