Ever since Watergate the media culture has made humor out of political #corruption , and I think it was obviously intended to inspire a healthy skepticism and vigilance. But it seems a big part of the audience just didn't get the joke, and it has led to normalization instead. The openly corrupt politician is perceived to be the straight shooter, while the one who strives to maintain integrity is presumed to be a fraud.

Yesterday I witnessed a great silence on the corporate platforms, in contrast to what happened eight years ago. It made me wonder how much compute power and electric power they are spending on #censorship . I mean, people have gotten pretty creative about spelling in order to evade the thought police, but my impression is either a massive chilling effect, or more likely political opinions in general are just getting shadow banned.
