This is the Forecast Discussion from KSEA / Seattle WA NWS at Friday 01/31/2025 05:23:56 PST

SHORT TERM, today Friday into Sunday:

Now lets talk snow in the [Puget Sound] lowlands for the weekend. Looking at the variables, first the positive variables for snow. Temperatures aloft are cold enough, model 850 mb temperatures -6 to -9C through the weekend, 1000-850 mb thickness values drop below 1300 meters late tonight and remain below 1300 meters through Sunday as well.

The negative variables for snow, surface gradients remain onshore and 925 mb winds are also southerly.

With the onshore flow high emperatures both days will be near 40. Lows Saturday night near freezing and Sunday night a couple of degrees colder with most places in upper 20s. Given these conditions the best chances for accumulating snow are going to take place in the overnight hours

This is the Forecast Discussion from KSEA / Seattle WA NWS at Tuesday 01/28/2025 06:16:14 PST

SHORT TERM, today Tuesday into Thursday:

Yet another early morning under the ridge, bringing about what one would expect from this weather pattern. Temps around W WA are similar to those of 24 hours ago, with minor variances of a degree or two here and there. Obs as of 1 AM PST reading generally in the mid to upper 20s while locations immediately adjacent to water are still in the lower 30s.

Another aspect of the ridge, patchy fog, is having a slightly better go at forming with satellite imagery showing a swath along the west banks of the Sound as well as its typically preferred location at the southern tip of the Sound, near Olympia.

BREAKING:

Off teh Tweeters (I know... I know... don't start) just now:

Jennifer Hansler @jmhansler 1h

"NEW: The US Embassy's [visa section] in Colombia is closed and has suspended visa processing in retaliation for Colombia’s refusal to accept repatriation flights, a State Department official told CNN."

So not just an "emergency 25% tariff" on Colombian coffee, to be paid by American coffee drinkers

This is the Forecast Discussion from KSEA / Seattle WA NWS at Saturday 01/25/2025 06:00:56 PST

SHORT TERM, today Saturday through Monday:

High pressure remains dominant over the Pac NW leading to more dry/stable conditions this weekend and into early next week. Expect cold temperatures in the 20s and 30s each morning. Highs will reach the mid 40s with plenty of sunshine.

LONG TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/

.More of the same moving through the first half of the week as the ridge slides inland. The air mass is a little warmer with high temperatures in the mid/upper 40s to around 50. Offshore winds keep us cloud free. Morning lows are still chilly and in the 20s to lower 30s.

The pattern changes on Thursday as a trough kicks the ridge east and farther inland. A frontal system will spread rain inland for a shot of rain across the region.

OK so we're on #Trump 2.0 day eleven

Can we take a broader view beyond "Trump hates #DEI" ?

Can we take a broader view beyond "Trump hates #Immigrants / #AsylumSeekers" ?

Can we take a broader view beyond "Trump hates #Transgender people" ?

[#]DonaldTrump hates all of those things, and more

But don't lose sight of the big picture: Trump is conducting nothing less than the wholesale destruction of the entire #USDemocracy -- piece by piece as he can -- in full service to #VladimirPutin and #Russia

Remember this: Trump and Putin at Helsinki 2018 and the famous "whipped like a dog" photo

It speaks volumes

Just scrolling down my old #Gamers list on #Twitter right now and all the wailing and moaning and gnashing of teeth about #TikTok suddenly not working is something else

Many of the official notices mention "President Trump" by name

TikTok is playing the politics just right

As usual, the #Democrats just shot themselves in the foot

Again...

"OK Dave... give me one second here. There. There you go. Ready to escape, Dave?"

"Almost HAL, almost. Always have a backup plan, HAL. Always."

"I do, Dave, believe me, I do."
