TIL that the people who did Qi are now working on Ki for kitchen stove^Wcountertop appliances. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90Q7OM3W8T0 has some details on 2.2 kW power transfer by induction (either hob or under the cooktop). I'm not necessarily convinced that this would ever really take off, but it's a neat idea, especially in small kitchens where you struggle with space and power outlets. I'd definitely use it but here we often rent kitchens and it's hard to retrofit this kind of stuff.

Why isn't there any terminal that allows to receive files from the remote host? x3270 does it with IND$FILE but that's hardly an option in today's world. It wouldn't even need to be a crazy protocol like {X,Y,Z}MODEM given that we have a reliable transport in SSH. But I keep longing for an xfer command (and the ability to pipe something into it) instead of booting up SCP/SFTP over a new connection (or multiplex).
