There’s nothing more frustrating for me than #SocialMedia #Apps that do the “Show More Posts” link in the feed.

The only feature I want from your app, is the ability to remember my position and allow me to continue scrolling chronologically through every post. That’s literally all I’m asking for, and if you can’t accomplish that simple task, your app is useless to me.

I tried downloading a few other #Mastodon apps to try them out and compare, and to be honest, none of them were great. The “official” app is, shall we say, a bit spartan.

@ivory by Tapbots is magnitudes above every other app in terms of #UI design and just the general “niceness” of the user experience.

I’m not sure why creating a pleasant UI is seemingly so difficult for other apps, but it looks like I will have to stick to #Ivory.

I know that processing and bandwidth is expensive, and everyone is always trying to reduce their server costs, but for the sake of #data #privacy and #security, there should be a way to force an update across the whole #Fediverse, that will purge any cache data related to your account.

I love the idea of #Federation, and being able to follow people across different platforms, but it also creates new distributed data problems that should be considered. 2/2

Seeing how insane the whole thing is for real, actually gives me a much greater appreciation for the #engineering, and how ridiculously complicated it must be to #design new lines, and squeeze them into the existing network. No wonder it takes 20 years to build a new one!

Former Nazi bunker turned into hotel and #leisure complex in Germany

At 58M tall - just a little taller than the Leaning Tower of Pisa, but with considerably more heft - the St. Pauli bunker in #Hamburg, #Germany, has dominated the city skyline for 80 years.

It is now packed with two restaurants, a five-story Hard Rock #Hotel and a newly built pyramid-like rooftop bar and garden from which greenery flows abundantly over the concrete facade.

The work at Oaro River is part of a #reforestation and predator control project led by Te Rūnanga o Kaikōura, a Māori #TribalCouncil in Kaikōura.
