For all the infosec here. I’m going on a holiday (about a week) to Turkey. I’m preparing for it and I’m wondering : am I justified in thinking I do not need to change my phone to a temporary one? Using an iPhone with Apple Pay, stuff like a password manager, 2FA auth, and the usual like mail and such. Nowhere near any confidential stuff only personal

Pfff I love my daughter (8yo) to bits. But sometimes she keeps talking and talking and talking and talking. Watching Romania vs Netherlands is enjoyable enough but not with two commentators. One on tv and one at home.

For fucksake. About a year ago or so I hurt my toenail while playing around with a ball barefoot. Hit my toe wrong and fucking flipped the nail backwards and almost clean off. Really weird injury but slowly recovered although the nail never became as good as before. Now i pulled off my shoes yesterday by holding one foot against the heel and pulling my other foot out. Somehow I hit my toenail against the sole and again busted my fucking nail almost completely off. It’s still there but at least the top half is completely loose from the toe. Annoying injury.

After 10 years for the same company (with a few mergers and takeovers) it was time for a change. Today was my first day at my new job and that was fun. I’m a project manager at a identity management software provider. Which means nudging developers to work between the lines and on schedule.

Soo.. Noob Question.. I think @JustineSmithies might know a way in.. I'm using this for my Thinkpad T580 Fingerprint as per Arch Wiki. Yesterday had a load of updates (python mainly) and now it doesn't work anymore.
The repo seems quite slow in activity:
https://github.com/uunicorn/python-validity
But main cause is probably switching from Python 3.11 to 3.12.. But what would be a way 'back' to 3.11 or tell this app to use 3.11.

@alice exactly. And there is always some degree in which someone has to know something.. but most of it is teachable if the willingness is there. And i rather have ' streetsmart (or common sense) ' than ' booksmart' .. Sure, its important you can learn new stuff (quickly when in IT) but knowing what to do is more important. Cramming a book has a limited use.

I like my divers musical mind. At one time I listen to Lorna Shore, and another time i really enjoy the laidback techno of Boris Brejcha..Mostly the music I like has 'a drive' to it, but that still can be mellow and laidback

Oh and only the 470 ran Windows. The G2/3 ran proxmox , the G4 Tumbleweed, the G5 Void. The latter two still kinda work but with busted Keys passwords get a hassle. Might look into reparing them.

QUESTION:
I have a script to show my battery status
battery() {
BAT=`ls /sys/class/power_supply | grep BAT | head -n 1`
cat /sys/class/power_supply/${BAT}/capacity
}
battery_stat() {
BAT=`ls /sys/class/power_supply | grep BAT | head -n 1`
cat /sys/class/power_supply/${BAT}/status
}
if [[ "$1" == "--bat" ]]; then
battery
elif [[ "$1" == "--bat-st" ]]; then
battery_stat
fi
But I have 2 batteries. and my scripting is far below par.. How can I edit this to show bot BAT0 and BAT1 as a result?

Hi @JustineSmithies , just curious. Did you (do you?) still use Wlsunset in Hyprland ? It seems to not work anymore, If i run it in the terminal, i get the same issue as mentioned here: https://github.com/hyprwm/Hyprland/issues/637

You know what it is... My Thinkpad T580 is coming tomorrow.. and I'm still unsure which Distro its getting.. Because at the end of the day I alias most of my commands to basic " install" , "update" etc.. So it comes down to package-availability and preference and not daily usage perse. And I don't know if I like Void enough to prefer it above Arch or Tumbleweed.. But I don't know if I prefer either more han Void..
As for WM, I'm quite certain I will remain hopping between Riverwm and Sway I think, and add Hyprland to that mix.. But those are enough.. for now :P God I'm terrible.. @JustineSmithies Help me!!!

Hi @JustineSmithies !!! How you like the switch back to Arch? I’m contemplating either going with Tumbleweed or Arch. Void is fun but on a few (not import, granted) things more cumbersome or less packaged than either two.

One of the benifits from having a job which is not tied to the office: I'm working from a cabin in the woods. Don't get me wrong, i like the mix between office AND home, i like to interact with people, but like being alone as well (or just with my family) and being able to work while they enjoy the woods is golden

God I hate windows. My wife won’t go Linux. But now has a laptop with 2 disks. Windows C: has 0bytes of space. Yes 0. And Data D: has 700GB of space. C: is users, programs etc. But do you think Windows let me do a fresh reset on the laptop? Nooooo because of space. Goddamned. Now I have to manually move and delete stuff. Because NOOO there is no Windows installation medium present.
