My rustacean friends are some of the craziest and most knowledgable Rust programmers around and that's just wild. I love seeing the crazy shit they're up to and learning from them.

Remember that one Google messaging app (Allo I think) that had a feature to change the text size? I still want that in other messengers. Text size is so expressive; it's like making the message louder or quieter. Whatsapp, Signal and Matrix should work on replicating this high tech innovation!

So IKEA is just LEGO for adults right? Which begs the question: where are the creative IKEA builders that bash IKEA sets together into crazy new furniture?

Final bonus thought: stock Android is so so so so so much better than Xiaomi's bullshit. I'm so glad I don't have to touch that anymore.

  1. Camera has been removed from the lock screen. Luckily I can tap the power button twice, but that took me some time to figure out. Wallet is on the lock screen though.

  1. I wanted a shortcut to Google's weather app, which is almost impossible to find! The only way I found was to add the "at a glance" widget, open it, then select "add to homescreen" on the weather page. It was not possible from a standard "weather" search on Google. Why is this so hard?

  1. There are so many terrible defaults. Why is autocorrect on? Why is Do Not Disturb ignored by favorite contacts?

  1. Xiaomi apps that I couldn't remove from my old phone were transferred along with the rest of my apps. Thanks for automatically putting more shit on my new phone Google.

  1. Whatsapp's transfer process is still terrible. It works with a backup made at night, which meant that I lost some messages. It didn't prompt me to make a new backup before switching.

  1. Probably obvious, but f-droid apps are not included in the transfer tool.

I just got a new phone and the process of switching phones is actually pretty painless right now. Android has a nice transfer tool to quickly get up to speed. However, I do have some gripes with it.

A random collection of observations:

  1. A password manager is essential for a smooth transition. There is so much stuff to log into.

  1. The transfer tool can't be opened manually and it didn't resume after one of the phones ran out of battery. I have no idea what has been transferred exactly.
