I've been told that Aquarians might face unexpected emergency scenarios this week, not that I ever believed in horoscopes or anything. No emergencies yet, but instead I just found out that one of my middle school classmates (back in Shanghai) has turned up in the same masters degree program - same class, even - as me, in New York... An anonymous good samaritan just emailed me a backup of the Matrix homeserver list's data file, which is actually later than my own backup, which was accidentally left on my laptop for debugging... It appears that #Oracle might have mass terminated free tier accounts as per https://www.reddit.com/r/oraclecloud/comments/1i74dc7/anyone_experiencing_issues_with_oracle_cloud/, and unfortunately some of my services are affected. For bus-hit.me and joinmatrix.org users: should my VPS not be restored, most of the services on bus-hit.me will be discontinued (minus the Matrix homeserver list which I'll try to restore elsewhere).

Recently I decided to play #Unciv. Here's what it taught me about B2B sales...
Just kidding, but it's hard to keep track of stats, and playing it on mobile makes seeing the big picture even harder. I just constantly improve my tiles and cities (while gaining a lot of gold), only to be invaded by everyone else (and the one empire I allied with happened to be the weakest), so I suppose I shall think ahead both in #game and in life...

I do not think it is easy for #Matrix to balance between its individual userbase using it as a community-like Discord alternative and its technical leadership pitching it as a commercial Slack alternative, but #Element is clearly not trying to either (or they really suck at communications). At this point I can only hope that the public federation gradually move away from New Vector (not impossible, seeing that matrix.org is avoided in many active rooms) to safeguard its own future.

Crossing the border into the US again. The TV (meant for staff) at the point of entry was playing Fox News airing some senate confirmation hearing. (Last time it was ESPN.) Breaking news, the Supreme Court upheld the TikTok ban. Okay. (We then crossed the border smoothly.)

Last meetup in #Montreal (with two friends) before leaving for NYC again. Tried vegan #food, complained about school (a little bit), verified each others' Signal & Matrix accounts, collaboratively wrote postcards for a few friends back in NYC, so on so forth. Regrettably a bit rushed - got awkward because of scheduling issues - but it was still worth it.

I love how Amazon sends out their online assessment on Christmas Eve... (I applied to their SDE internship back in October. Judge all you want, I need an internship.) Certainly very telling of their work-life balance... Anyways, unfortunately I might've overthought the first coding question, and an implementation issue in Hackerrank (the name "process" being reused in JavaScript) also slowed me down... I almost forgot... There's these cuneiform tablets (à la Ea-nasir's complaint), in the size of mobile devices, depicting Kanye West's #tweets.
