Vortex Generator

One of yesterday's conversation threads about designing a micro mixer went to a talk about modulation. It started with the mention of auto-panning as a feature and it occurred to me as a reminder of a small circuit that I built a few years ago.

I'm thinking about a small #mixer as a #soldering set again. Here is a simple mono design, that I once came up with.

Now I would like to do it in the style of the new noisio #synth #kits, with USB-C and the housing.

What about adding another line of knobs to add one more key feature, like making it stereo (panning), have an Aux channel or build a 1 knob super filter over the whole frequency range (this is what I am dreaming about :).

What would you go for?

I started with this 3 year old video about the (meanwhile discontinued) ATBase. Most of their functionalities are now part of the new ATPC. So the info is still valid.

Touring around the world with artist and instrument builder Paul Tas.

I've met him a few times over the last years, also Jaqcy and it's always been such a lot of fun.

This elaborately filmed documentary by Dutch TV is officially not allowed to be screened, but it somehow landed on his yt channel (also with english subtitles). So, maybe it's not very long there.

Makroplastik will release a new album in February. We spontaneously decided to produce another tape. Yeah! About this I had a long phone call with Max from Shell Tapes in yesterday. They're such great, open-hearted people over there at aquarium, keeping the DIY spirit alive.

I am very happy to go to #38C3 soon. Meet noisio around the #hardware #hacking area.

I will do a late evening #solder #workshop every day. Many new things are in the pockets. For sure this will be big fun again!

A lot of the #synths now have an updated hard- and software. The new codes often also fit the older instruments. So if you have ever built a noisio synth, you now have the chance to get the upgrade for the latest algorithm.

The #new noisio 8-bit #noise #synth #soldering #kit passed all tests and will come out soon.

ATPC (ATtiny Punk Console) v4 manuals and instructions are in #progress. A lot of #work in advance will hopefully save most of the #trouble later. :)

What's so new about it?

• A funky fresh designed new case
• #usbc power connection
• Even easier to build
• You can now select from 10(!) different synth algorithms on startup
• Three 5V CV inputs as developed for ATBase

Less is more

I played a 20..25 minute Jack Noise Syndrom solo set with almost nothing on the table. And it turned out to be great.

So:

1 LevitationOSC for the frequency domain

2 heavily bended tremolo for the stereo field

3 a looper for the time domain

...was all that was needed to paint big pictures.

Will do it again!

This was just how it all ended at Ultima Trinchera in the center of the island on last weekend. After a concert with so many facettes of #experimental and #DIY #music and the following #rave by local #artists we were graced with this beauty of a #rainbow on sunday morning.
