This week, arm64 docker builds broke on #github actions #ci. The root cause was a bad combination of a #linux #kernel hardening and #qemu. This issue was known and fixed in #Debian in November, but the uncoordinated update of the linux-azure kernel along with a copy deployment of QEMU in the CI hit it again.

I had a hard time to add #docker rootless support to #kas (for #yocto #linux builds). It's another half-baked solution from docker which lacks support for crucial features like sharing the user namespace (to align the uids from bind mounts). In fact, that are features which #podman provides for years.

snapshot.debian.org is a crucial service for reproducible container, app and image builds. Together with the team behind it I'm currently working on various improvements around the reliability and performance of the service. A key improvement just got merged: https://salsa.debian.org/apt-team/apt/-/merge_requests/383
