I don't actively seek out news anyway, but I'm intentionally avoiding it today and bits and pieces are still sinking through the cracks. I'm a little terrified of what I'm going to see when I finally come up for air.

I feel helpless, but I should probably at least be informed. Just... Not right now. I can't do another 4 years of always-on world-on-fire bullshit.

Hmm, now I'm reconsidering the Quest headset. I have an original Oculus Rift, and it still works fine, but the Quest is a very attractive option. It's cheap, and I like that you can run it standalone or connected to a computer, and the all-in-one tracking sounds amazing.

But I think I should really boycott Meta entirely. The problem is I'm not familiar with the other VR options other than the Valve Index, which is significantly more expensive and not standalone.

I'll keep using the Rift until they force me out. Maybe there's a headset out there that will work natively on Linux, and I can ditch Windows too at that point.

Just double checking, I have a portable supercomputer that fits in my pocket with a battery that lasts all day and allows me to instantly communicate with almost anyone on the planet? Do I have that right? Honestly incredible.
