Hiking along the Baker River to Sulfide Creek. The trail starts in the Mount Baker NF and ends in the North Cascades National Park. The tiny little point peaking over the glacier is the peak of Mount Shuksan, I think. The other photo is part of the range on the East side of Baker Lake. There is a long shot and an enlargement for each set.

[#]Harris #politics Harris gave a great speech in DC. I am proud of her for having the gonads to say the truth about Trump and his power hungry minions. We are at a crossroads in our history. Maybe someday my former party will reject the Orange One and his scheming minions. But until then, I would be proud to have that woman lead our country on the world stage. The contrast between candidates could not be more clear.

[#]hiking #pnw #rivers #flyfishing Hiked the South Fork Cascade River Trail on 10/13. A little brushy once out of the woods. But it’s my favorite river. Old growth Hemlock and Cedar, cliffs, saw a black bear. A good day. It has Cutthroat, Rainbow, Dolly Varden. And salmon below the falls. We were too far upstream for salmon. The river starts at the South Cascade Glacier. We were alone here - no other hikers.

[#]hiking #pnw #northcascadesnationalpark Hiked to Cascade Pass on Monday. The road and trail system was closed (MBNF) due to fires, but is now open. The Pass is in the park but needs to be accessed via the NF. Very busy (people were let out :-). Foggy, windy, and fall is coming.

[#]pnw #hiking #flyfishing hiked 7 miles out to the South Fork of the Nooksack River. Its water comes off Mount Baker and the Twin Sisters Range.It’s fly fishing only, barbless hook, catch and release. It’s only open between Wanlick Creek and Bell Creek. I used to fish here 35 years ago. You can no longer drive to the river. The road has collapsed. It’s four hours out, and four hours back. The fish are small cutthroat. It’s a place where you go to cast flies, not to catch fish. USFS land.
