Anyone knows how to have VOllama use the gpu?
Ollama itself in terminal can do it, but VOllama is super slow..

Ah, the joys of android notifications...
Gmail, 2 new messages. Gmail, one new message. Gmail, one new message.
Yeah, hum. You already said there were two of those, right from the start, you know?

Would anyone happen to know how I could report a bug to apple concerning watchOS?
Ever since the 11.2 update, the function "sleep on wrist down" in accessibility -> VoiceOver, stopped working. In short: you can't make you watch go back to sleep if you lower your wrist anymore.

Okay so my orbit writer just totally freaked out with iOS and even my watch today. I have not done any update, of any OS nor the writer firmware.
I have tried to forget/pair the device multiple times. VO claims it is connected but never makes a sound, the keyboard remains unresponsive.
I have tried everything I can think of. Even went as far as restoring network settings to default, turning off and on for bluetooth, resetting orbit writer entirely. Nothing works.
Meanwhile the HID profile works fine but VO is totally freaking out.
Any ideas?

So, I just conducted an experiment last night, and made it work.
Ever had this issue where sometimes you would accidentally wake up the display of your apple watch in bed while moving about? I found a fun trick for it.
You can create a shortcut on your phone, which is set to turn on water lock. Then a second one, which is used to turn it off. You can then program these as automations, for example:
That way the display of your watch will remain unable to detect any sort of touch at night so if you move a lot and end up accidentally activating it like I did, no more worries. Best of all, the automation is silent, and will not play any noise when turning off water lock, since this is controlled by the actual press of the digital crown.
Anyway, hope this helps some other folks.

Woaaaah! Holy damn is it just me or is the volume of VO way too loud after the update?
I had to go to 80% because 100% was distorting eloquence. Oh and adjusting the rotor volume has no effect now. I have to use the control centre.

That moment where your buddy drops a glass and instead of shattering on impact, it goes something like this:
Ping... Ping... Ping... Ping... CRASH!
That was beautiful.

Does anyone remember the app that was talked about a while ago, that was better than aiko to do transcribing? It was faster, used less resources, and gave better results. Been searching everywhere for it, but I totally forgot the name.
I remember at the time it was in beta in testflight, but not sure what it has gotten to, now. Rings any bell?

Is LibreOffice ever going to behave and stop freezing whenever you do nvda+down arrow? Seriously. I installed it again on my new windows installation and quite rapidly remembered why it was I wanted ms word instead...
I can't even read a document without having to manually do it. Pathetic that it is still like this in 2024.

Anyone else noticing that sometimes in the health app on iOS 18, the data recorded by an apple watch as highlights won't display fine with VO?
Case in point: here's a look at your heart rate while you were sleeping most recently, highlight diagram.
Any workaround for this?

Is there any way to get the old look and functionality of thunderbird?
I'm honestly asking because, try as I might I just can't stand the more "modern" UI. I just want something down right basic, a list of account and folders in a tree, the messages list in a table, and a simple menu bar. I don't want any of these buttons cluttering the interface, I don't want to have the messages opening in tabs or new window if I just tab around. Seriously, how hard can it be?
I tried to get used to the newer interface and simply can't manage. I hate it, there's no other way to say this. I liked what seamonkey had, it was lightning fast, not laggy as hell if you had forgotten to move away from a busy folder before closing the app.
Maybe it's being blind combined with being autistic, but I simply cannot stand most modern UIs, including website and web apps.

I was watching for fun the 5th Harry Potter movie, in canadian french.
The scene where Umbridge blows up the wall to enter the room of requirements, I have absolutely no clue what went down, but they messed up beyond the awful level.
In french from france and in the original, we can clearly hear, "bombarda maxima". In canadian french, this becomes... Hold onto your hats! "Bombardous maxima".
The hell? The funniest thing in the entire situation is she's deadly serious when she pronounces the incantation. But really, bombardous? That ruined it.

Then there are also the outright ableist ones who act like blind people, especially fully blind people, can't do electronics, just because that doesn't fit in their narrow view of the world.
It's true, I can't do electronics on my own. But if I'm guided by someone sighted, I can make a pretty good map of a circuit on my breadboard, connect wires to and from the various components just like sighted folks can. I might be slower, and make more mistakes, but I can do it.
There's a lot of folks who I tell this to who won't believe me. They think for some reason I'm making up my blindness, or making up the fact I can do electronics.
I'm tired of having to fight at every single thing I try in my life.

And the fact most people online, both on irc and discord tell me to just go and see a random neighbor of mine and ask if they can solder connectors for me, by now has become the routine song I'm used to.
It's like for them it just makes sense to go and bother someone they don't know to ask for a service. Noone is really thinking about my disabilities. I can't go around my residency just waiting for people to pass me by and ask at random "hey, can you please solder something for me?"
This is the kind of response I get every time, and it's getting old.

So, I tried to make it nice. I told them that I really appreciate the service they are offering free of charge when their workload allows it, because it's true. Without them, I couldn't have used an esp-01 module on a breadboard.
I even used chat gpt to make the wording as gentle as possible so they wouldn't take offense.
And yet, I feel as if this was not successful. Their latest email reminds me that this is on a best effort basis and they don't generally do that sort of thing.
So it's kind of bitter now, I guess? It's both nice to have, and not nice, because something badly soldered and potentially unusable is as bad as something unsoldered, to me.
I absolutely don't wish to be perceived as entitled, but I can't help but think this is only temporary and I won't get away with this curtesy each time.

So honestly, what am I to do? There's a couple solution here.
I can move on and just find an alternative product from some other companies that would have pins on it, but it's not always possible to find something like that. I could also go and bother one of my neighbors, totally spontaneously, to ask them if they could solder for me. Like I would seriously consider doing that. Nop, no way. I'm not sociable, I don't know my neighbors, ergo no chance I'm randomly going up one day and asking.
The third option I now have is this french distributor, who's willing to solder headers on items, as a curtesy aka free of charge, when their workload isn't too full. And that is really, really good.
I can ask them if they could do this first and they will say yes. But the first time they did soldering for me, the headers were not straight in. The pins themselves were straight no problem. But the bit of plastic was not.

So, I've found a french distributor of products from the adafruit company.
This is great, right? Means I can buy them straight from a store in france and wait less before getting them.
But also, adafruit is one of those companies that make hardware and 99% of the things they make come with unsoldered headers. To their credit, they mention this in the description, so that means not making the mistake of buying a product that's got no headers on it.
Adafruit is proud to be a business owned by a woman. But also they don't care much for accessibility, it looks like.
Want to register on the forum to get support? Gotta solve a captcha where you get asked for example the color bands of a group of resistors. You also can't ask them to provide support via email instead given the inaccessibility of their forum. They also refuse to solder headers when you ask, should you find a way to ask.

UPDATE: Thanks to @gsx, I got myself a neat wifi dongle from the german shop wlan-shop24.de.
It was not the original one they suggested to me, due to it being out of stock for several days, but they also happened to offer the initial dongle I was considering, so all in all, it did work out.
The dongle is simply of amazing quality. The build is impressive. I've never had a wifi dongle that looked so much like it meant business.
The dongle itself is very solid feeling, and comes with two antennas and an usb-a extension cable. Each item is individually packaged into separate bags, which is nice. Each antenna has its own individual packaging too.
If I was unsure of the price of 40 euros before, now I definitely get why it is the way it is.
And it was indeed plug and play as advertised. If I ever have to get another dongle, you can be certain I'll buy from there again, and most probably from the same brand.
Thanks so much to everyone who replied, favorited and boosted this post.

Anyone else unable to get BME to describe pictures for them on pc?
I select my picture in the file browser, it starts trying to process it, then it ends with, try again later, code 8.
