[#]mastoadmin help required, why when I have the #media cache #retention set to 21 days, do some images get kept for 21 days, and some still disappear after like a day?

I find I'm having to run tootctl media refresh --days 21 --force a lot in order to fix it, and then the next day images are missing again!

What's the trick?

I just made a new Easter egg for my BBS, when you wait at the main menu for long enough, it will start my "screensaver" which is essentially cmatrix (linux command) however I just added a thing prior to cmatrix starting, check it out!

I need a new job, I'm fed up being treated like crap at work, I do more work and hours than anyone else and it's never recognised, I'm paid much lower than industry standard but that didn't bother me as I enjoy the actual work... but I can't survive on what I am paid and my health can't survive on how I get treated.

I am an open source engineer in a data centre, working solely within *nix environments, with experience in some automation such as shell scripting and ansible, I have experience in virtualisation platforms such as vmware's vsphere, opennebula and proxmox, and have some experience with containers and kubernetes too.

I don't have any current certificates, I had an RHCSA from 2019-2022, but I never renewed it as the company didn't want to and I didn't see a need until now.

I'm crap at selling myself, and I am an anxious person who doesn't do well meeting new people, but I am a great team player as well as working alone.

I probably need a mentor lol. I'm reaching out to #Fedihire to get help with finding a (remote) role, confidence in myself, and a better life.

Temporarily mostly fixed it by doing this;

sudo downgrade hyprcursor=0.1.9-1 linux=6.10.10.arch1-1 linux-headers=6.10.10.arch1-1 nvidia-open-dkms=560.35.03-6 opencl-nvidia=560.35.03-3 qt6-base=6.7.3-1

Argh this is the first #ArchLinux fail I've had to suffer... not bad I suppose, but man I didn't wanna be troubleshooting this today lol.

If #tzdata upgrades to 2024b-1, #Waybar shows UTC time regardless of timezone set and errors with;

[warning] Timezone: Europe/London std::chrono::tzdb: cannot locate zone: Europe/London

(Replace Europe/London for whatever you configured)

Downgrading tzdata to 2024a-2 is a solid workaround

In #ArchLinux if you have the old ver in cache;

$ sudo pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/tzdata-2024a-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst

Then add IgnorePkg=tzdata to /etc/pacman.conf until they fix it (tzdata or waybar)
