The good news is that it absolutely can treat pain, and disordered eating. The mixed news is that for daily use it only does this for a certain amount of time, before it starts causing those negative long term effects of pain (specifically fibromyalgia like pain), depression, brain fog, anxiety, paranoia, blood pressure and gut issues, and the risk of Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome and/or induced psychosis goes way up. They dunno why it varies between individuals so much yet, but its like for some people its only a couple years, for others its 10, 20, 30 years. Some recovery counselors were grieving that they had patients in their 60s and 70s who used weed perfectly fine until they couldn't
Just like opiates for pain, no matter how regimented the intake, if there's no diversified medical treatment over the years and the dose just slowly goes up, there is a lot of understated side effects, and a huge risk for going from healthy use to abuse

The bad news is there is overwhelming evidence it is a poor at best and more often extremely harmful substance for long term use for most mental health conditions, especially especially depression and anxiety. The relief from dreams for cptsd is there but the negative impacts on sleep quality far outweigh that benefit when there are other medicines for that.

More recently I’ve rendered him with the arrows removed to signify his survival. During the time of the plague in the Middle Ages, this image of Saint Sebastian was often prayed to because Europeans symbolically associated the arrows with the Black Death."
