[#]WritersCoffeeClub Jan31. How’s your writing progress so far this year? What are you working on?

Pretty good. I have been writing on a few days, and making progress.

Currently on my three WiPs. Yes, three at once, which helps me focus by having multiple things to work on depending on my mood.

One is The Magic Town series. One is a philosophical fiction piece - very challenging. And one is "How to Leave the Church"

I am reading about Cognative Dissonance at the moment. From a psychological perspective.

What strikes me, and I cannot yet express it in simple terms, is that this is very relevant to the Trump election.

What it is saying clearly is that if your actions and your beliefs/ideas do not match, we tend to change our beliefs and ideas, rather than accept that our actions were wrong. And we do this without realising it or thinking about it.

I think I will become an actor. I mean, I have absolutely no talent whatsoever at even appearing to be human, but I will only do game adverts on your phones, so that will not be an issue.

Aparently, on an android phone, if you tell Gemini to "Fuck right off and take any other fucking AI off my fucking phone you pointelss piece of shit" it doesn't work.

And some of you have now tried it just to see, haven't you?

[#]WritersCoffeeClub 01/26—If people tell you they’ve always wanted to write, what do you say to them?

Why? I would want to discuss with them what they are seeking to write.

Eventually, once they have clarified to themselves why they want to write, I would suggest that they find a writers group to join.

[#]WritersCoffeeClub 01/25—Do you have a worked-out magical system (or advanced technology in sci-fi)? Or do you make it up as you go?

Oh completely make it up as I go along. There are some aspects - it must be with limited use (or useless or with negative impacts). And there is no waving hands or wands.

What, I work 4 days a week, and writing is my hobby. I don't have time for any other hobbies.

BBC Headline on the cost of Labours win - 56M in staff turnover costs.

So what? The Tories stole at least £100Bn from the country. How about getting that back.

[#]WritersCoffeeClub Do you think it’s vital for a fiction writer to have empathy?

Not vital. I think it is a really positive aspect for authors to have, to be able to empathise with readers and how they will understand the writing.

But it is not vital. It is entirely possible to write amazing stuff and still be a vile abusive shit.

[#]Traitors - Claude is just incredible in her way of presenting things like "There will be a special power", or the missions.

It makes them all unsure of what its happening. Which is perfect.

[#]WritersCoffeeClub 22 Jan: What prompted you to begin writing?

No idea. I have done some form of writing for many years. I got into it more formally when there was a class run by someone I knew.

But I have tried writing stuff for decades.

I suppose by seeking to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America, Trump is naming something after himself.

Gulf:

A deep, wide chasm; an abyss.

A wide gap, as in understanding.

[#]WritersCoffeeClub 20. Do any of your stories take place on the sea? In what way?

Nope, and unlikely to, because I don't really do "being at sea" more than an occasional ferry journey.

So if I don't understand the context, I am unlikely to write about it because i will get it all wrong. And I know how that will irritiate some people.

I try to write within either my broad understanding or stuff I can make up.

[#]WritersCoffeeClub 1/19: Did you find a way through the maze of traditional publishing to get your book published? What’s your secret?
