Asuswrt-Merlin will no longer support older Wifi 5 devices that were still on the 386_x firmware. That includes devices such as the RT-AC68U, which have been End-of-Life by Asus since April 2024.

That means I will no longer release any new firmware for these devices, unless a truly exceptional situation happens.

I had to do a lot of history rewrite of my Github repo at someone's request to remove files that shouldn't have been there. If you had cloned/forked my repo, you will have to do a fresh clone.

Not my idea of how to best finish my vacation, but it is what it is.

Microsoft: "Plus, passkeys eliminate forgotten passwords and one-time codes"

Uh, and what about lost passkeys? If your passkey is stored on a compromised Microsoft account, or a single device which is lost or dies, then you effectively have the same issue as a lost password.

A lot of very good recommendations from NIST regarding passwords:

"alias sdc=sudo docker compose"

Because I'm lazy (and annoyed at typing the whole mouthfull so many times while experimenting/dealing with an update notifier image).

For the first time since I build the new PC, I compiled all 24 firmwares at the same time. It took 51 minutes, while with the previous system that would have taken over two hours.

Anyone has tried Buffer (https://buffer.com/) as a way to crosspost to both Bluesky and Mastodon? Any thoughts?

Every time I have to touch a Mac for one of my customers, I find something new that is completely silly or unintuitive. In this last case, why does TAB-navigating through a window elements just arbitrarily SKIP some elements?

Final VM migrated to #proxmox. Goodbye #xen, it`s been a great ~15 years.

Got the new Proxmox host up and running with one test Win11 VM.

This Intel NUC 11 runs amazingly quiet even under load, compared to the Asus Expert PC where I currently run XCP-NG. And it was really affordable since it was an older model.

Next, I'll need to recreate all my VMs, possibly change one or two into a Container instead.

Totally agree on the "theoretical attack bits. A lot of aging desktops have become near unusable due to mitigation for these flaws that will never really be exploited in the wild outside of a state nation targeting another state nation, or someone actually stealing the PC and trying to exploit it in a lab.

The XO UI needs to be redesigned by a web developer rather than a software engineer. Very different skillset involved.

After around 15 years using Xen, I think it's time to plan migrating my home lab to Proxmox. The loss of XenCenter with the new XCP-NG 8.3 is a MAJOR issue for me.

Sorry @xcpng but I find XO and XO-Lite to be horrible user experiences compared to XenCenter. Scrollable iframe within a scrollable page (...), UI designed for the blind so it requires constant scrolling on a 15" laptop screen, UI elements wordwrapping due to being too large to fit, poorly organized sections... :(
