TIL you can use round() on CSS line-height, which basically means you can snap it to a baseline grid.

Does anyone still use structured data in their HTML, like https://schema.org? A decade ago, it seemed wise to give pages a bit more structured so Google would understand better and enhance search result listings, etc.
Now it seems like we're giving our pages more structure to make it slightly easier for AI bots to slurp up our content and reuse it.
At this point, should we assume that Google understands our pages just fine, and just write markup for real people?

@hipsterbrown Hi Nick. I was at Thunder Plains yesterday and was wondering if your slide deck is available online anywhere?
Loved your talk. I’m not into robotics as much, but I’d love to do more with peer to peer connections at in-person events on mobile devices, and a lot of this still seems very relevant.

The funniest thing about the #WordPress drama: “‘WP Engine is setting a poor standard that others may look at and think is ok to replicate. We must set a higher standard to ensure WordPress is here for the next 100 years.’, he continued.”
Two weeks ago, Mullenweg was talking really big about making WordPress last for a century, and now he’s doing a Musk-like speed run to an unstable mess.

The holy grail of native use in browsers launched earlier this year, and I can't believe I missed it!
sizes='auto' means we can now drop lazy loading images into pages and the browser will choose the correct image size without any media rules being specified, or using any JS!

Google Authenticator gets a little confusing when it backs up your phone’s 2FA codes to your Google account that’s presumably locked with a 2FA code (which is saved in Authenticator?). That’s a bad loop to be in!
If you’re doing this and don’t want to be locked out of all your accounts if you lose your phone, go print off or write down the backup codes for that Google account. https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/1187538?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop

I just took the family down to CVS for COVID and flu shots. At this point, the 9-year-olds aren’t afraid of needles and don’t care as long as they get candy while we’re there.
This is your reminder that we’re in a wave of COVID, there’s an updated vaccine out in the last month, and it will only take you an hour and cost you a few bags of treats. #vaccines
