Speaking of hockey, it went pretty badly. Although we did battle back from a 6-0 deficit to tie it, we lost late on a shot from the point that curved around me. One goal came from behind me, hitting the knob of my stick and going in. Ugh. I hope the rest of #today goes better. I'm trying to stay optimistic I don't have to go anywhere or do anything by staying in my sweatpants, but I may be pushing my luck. It's supposed to rain all day, so probably no #walkies either.

The migration process is pretty easy, although there are some glaring holes (like I wish you could import followed hashtags). It is a bit technical to export and import CSV files, but not too bad. I moved a few years ago between SDF servers, and it worked pretty well. However, I doubt that if my old account is in a list of yours, like Accounts Who Talk Too Much About Hockey or Accounts in the Salt Mine, it will make the move too. Anyone know? @FediTips, maybe?

Morning Mastodonians!
I made the move to the indieweb.social Mastodon server. I've been part of the Mastodon experiment on @SDF since Sept 2017, but it's been flaky for a while. Luckily, unlike other services like X and Bluesky, moving to a new server is pretty painless, thanks to @FediTips fantastic guide (I need to buy them a kofi). All my followers should come along without any effort soon, but feel free to click the follow button @jdarnold. Thanks for all the new server suggestions!

Getting tired of the flakey sdf.org Mastodon server(s) and think it is time to move on. Any Mastodon server recommendations? I think I might try indieweb.social

I think I finally have a clear roadmap for the small(!) project I'm working on in the #Saltmine, so maybe I can finish it today. There has been lots of back-and-forth as we hashed out what and how it is supposed to work, but we are all in agreement. Now, I just have to write the code.

Just the usual planned for #today - #walkies and date night at the Chinese restaurant. I think it is supposed to be cold and blustery, but I owe the #dogs a walk. I've been too busy so far this week. Obi may still need a splenectomy because the mass on his spleen grew, but just a little bit. A pretty expensive procedure. We'll revisit it in 3 months. He seems fine - still energetic, eating and sleeping well, so his quality of life is good.

Our #cocktail of the evening was a Clover Leaf:
Garnish: fresh mint leaf
We used Chambord, of course, and half-and-half. I can't say I was enamored with it. Maybe it would be better with egg whites. The Treehouse IPA was good, not great, which means it was better than 95% of the IPAs out there right now.

We had a good session at Helldivers last night, and I think we may be finally figuring the game out. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a self-contained story. The "universe" keeps regenerating, so it isn't really our style. We aren't looking for a lifestyle game—just something to play through. So, I'm not sure how much longer we'll play it. We don't really have anything else up next, so there's no rush.

Hey @icecubea, do you have any idea why it won't sync with my Mastodon server anymore? I just get "An Error Occurred" and retry doesn't help. Sometimes, I'll get a brief view of the Home timeline, but then it goes into the error screen. I can get mentions, but none of the timelines work.
Admittedly, my home server is often flakey but...

This morning, I got a lot done in the office, which is a change. Now that I'm home, I have some really focused work to do. I do have my weekly one-on-one with my boss, but that should go fast. He's been away for a week, so I'm sure he's swamped with work. I try to jot down ideas to talk about, but I haven't been doing a great job at it.

I was thinking of going in again on Friday, but 2 days in the office is more than enough fun for one week. The commute from the house isn't bad, and it is even easier from hockey, which is why I've been making a Tuesday visit regularly. I thought the weekend was pretty straightforward, but then D asked me to play goal for his Saturday morning hockey, so that's scheduled. Nothing else that I know of. Which would be greeeaaattttt.

I am home now. I had to close the girls' bedroom doors. The dogs (I think Phineas) have been going into the rooms and hunting out candy and chocolates to eat, which isn't good for them. It doesn't seem to bother him, but he has been asking to go out in the middle of the night. Maybe we'll stop returning from G's work at the Great American Beer Hall for a beer and nachos. M will come over later, and we'll have a cocktail and a beer and play some more Helldivers for 4 Guys Co-op.

Morning Mastodonians!
Actually, it isn't morning here at all. I had a jam-packed morning #today, so I couldn't write the normal MM. As I've been trying to write 750 words every day, this boring missive is a good head start, so I'll write this up. We got a bit of snow (enough to be a pain), so I had to clean the cars. Then I drove my wife to work, got everyone else out the door, and went to the office today. We had a Group all-hands meeting, so I went in for it, and the free lunch didn't hurt.

I guess I'll slowly edge my way into the #SaltMine. It should be fine because I have some obvious and functional bits to add to the code, but even then, I am not feeling it. My boss will be back from vacation, so we'll have to see what he says about last week's production. The end result is pretty good, but it took way too long to get there. My laziness and unfamiliarity with gRPC made my code output pretty meager.

My arthritic right thumb has been seriously bothering me lately. Combined with my arthritic left index finger, it's really embarrassing to have to hand off jar-opening chores to the boyfriends or, even worse, my daughters! I was always jealous of my dad's strong hands. Even at my best, they were no match for his. Otherwise, my normal physical ailments have been quiet. My knees have been working well. Maybe the daily magnesium glycinate capsules help, or maybe it's just psychological.

Luckily, #today looks to be pretty quiet. I'll spend plenty of time cleaning up (one of the perils of working from home). I would dearly love to play the first two tutorial missions in #Bardsung, but I'm not sure I'll have the time or energy, as it should be an early night because the alarm goes off at 4:20 am on Tuesdays. It should be good weather for #walkies. The dogs were kind of annoying yesterday, but eventually, they calmed down.
